- Every year, more than 62,000 children throughout Arizona find themselves displaced and unaccompanied through no fault of their own, ranking our state as the fifth-worst nationwide for child homelessness.
- Homeless youth are four times more likely to drop out of school and twice as likely to become unemployable adults trapped in poverty.
- With the help of supporters nationwide, Youth On Their Own has empowered over 16,000 homeless youth to remain in school and pursue opportunities for self-sufficiency.

- Join AFCEA in the first virtual 5k walk/run in support of the Youth On Their Own COVID-19 Emergency Fund! -
Youth On Their Own (YOTO) supports the high school graduation and continued success of youth experiencing homelessness by providing financial assistance, basic human needs, and guidance. In response to an increased demand for services during this time of social and economic disruption, YOTO has created an emergency fund for student aid. This fund provides urgent financial assistance, basic needs, supplies, and food to students who rely on YOTO's support.
The Desert Lightning 2020 'Rona Run is open to anyone and can be completed anywhere - outdoors, indoors, from the comfort of your treadmill!
All entry fees and donations go directly to the Youth On Their Own COVID-19 Emergency Fund benefiting homeless youth!

Print the Virtual 5k bib
Anytime between September 1st and September 11th pick a safe place to run or walk 3.1 miles wearing your printed bib
You can use MapMyRun, Strava or any other free app or your GPS watch to help you map a course and/or time your walk/run
Run or walk your planned course
Take some photos and celebrate your finish!
On Instagram or Facebook use hashtag #2020RonaRun so we can share your accomplishments!
All registrants and donors will receive a commemorative finisher medal!
