MEET LEVEL: OPEN MEET
Please note for events up to and including 200m, all swimmers are eligible to participate without a qualifying standard. For events 400m and above, a minimum of a ‘B’ standard is required, as per the attached document for the age group which the swimmer will participate in on the day of the meet.
RACES and FORMAT:
Race events are as listed on the attached APPENDIX A. All events will be swum as TIMED FINALS with the exception of the 50 Free where the top 8 swimmers in each age group swimming a final.
All heats will be swum according to age group and gender. The results will be recorded according to the following age groups: 10 & under, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, 15 & over. Swimmers will accumulate points based on their placement in their events in their age group.
ELIGIBILITY:
Swimmers must be ordinarily resident in Bermuda or registered with another National Association that is a current member of FINA.
NUMBER OF EVENTS:
Swimmers may compete in a maximum of FOUR (4) individual events in the pool meet plus the Open Water event.
SWIMMER’S AGE:
The age of each swimmer for purposes of Age Group Records will be as of the day of the meet.
BASA REGISTRATION:
All Bermuda resident swimmers must be registered with BASA before their entry will be accepted. Swimmers must register by submitting the registration fee along with a completed BASA Registration Form (available from Club Representatives) to: BASA Registration Secretary, Suite 1407, 48 Par la Ville Road, Hamilton HM 11. The BASA Registration fee is $110.00 for new swimmers & $120 for renewals received after September 30th, 2015. A temporary day membership will be available from BASA on the day of the meet to allow Masters swimmers to compete.
ENTRY DEADLINE:
Entries must be submitted to the HASC Meet Manager, Kim Moseley (email address miradorn@transact.bm ) by: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18th, 2016 Entries submitted after the above deadline will be considered as Deck Entries (see Rule 11). Note – Swimmers who are not ordinarily resident in Bermuda should contact Kim Moseley at the email address above for an entry form and entry instructions.
ENTRY FEE:
The entry fee for entries submitted for the pool event before the entry deadline is $15.00 per event. For entries after the entry deadline, please refer to Rule 12 re DECK ENTRIES. Entries for the Open Water Event will be subject to the requirements issued by that event. Entry fees must accompany entries and be received by the Entry Deadline outlined in Rule 10. Entry forms and fees for the Open Water event will be circulated in due course.
DECK ENTRIES:
Deck Entries will be considered provided that an extra heat is not created and that the swimmer is properly registered and meets the eligibility requirements. Deck Entry requests must be submitted prior to the close of scratches as set out in Rule 13. Deck Entry swims will be exhibition and seeded as No Time (NT) entries. The final decision on the acceptance of Deck Entries is at the discretion of the Meet Referee.
SCRATCHES:
Once entered in an event, a swimmer may only be withdrawn or “scratched” from that event without penalty, by the Coach (or Club Representative) either:
(a) notifying the HASC Meet Manager before the day of the meet, or
(b) entering the scratched swimmer on the SCRATCH SHEET at the Officials Desk on the day of the meet before the deadline of: 45 minutes before the start of the session.
FAILURE BY A SWIMMER TO EITHER:
a.) Scratch in accordance with the above;
b.) Mount the blocks prior to the race being turned over to the starter by the meet referee, constitutes a late scratch and shall result in an automatic scratch from all other events entered within that session.
As a courtesy to the coaches and meet officials, it is expected that scratches will be submitted to the HASC Meet Manager or the Officials Desk as soon as possible but within the allotted time. Scratches must be submitted by the Club Coaches*.
* It is recommended that in order to help our meets run more efficiently, the swimmers check in with their coach before warm up for registration. The coaches, in turn, will scratch the swimmers who have not reported in, or advised beforehand that they will be late.
STARTS:
The ONE START RULE will be in effect. All events except backstroke will be swum with an over-the-top start.
TIME TRIALS:
No time trials will be swum in the meet
DISQUALIFICATIONS:
Disqualifications will be announced once the referee has made the ruling. It is the coach’s responsibility to determine the details of the infraction by verification at the officials table.
RESULTS:
Results will be broken down by gender and into age groups as follows:
10 & Under, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, and 15 and over.
The 50m events will additionally be broken down into 8&u and 9&10 age group
MEET BRIEFINGS:
There will be a Referee's Briefing of Officials and a Coaches/Technical Meeting on deck 45 minutes prior to the start of the meet.
MEDALS:
Medals will be awarded for the first 3 in each age group in each event. For the 50m kick event, medals will be awarded to the 8&u category.
ENTRIES:
Members of affiliated clubs should make their entries in the usual manner and HASC will invoice the Club directly. Individuals not affiliated with a club should make their entries on www.racedayworld.com
