Event Description
HERITAGE DAY JUNIOR CLASSIC ROAD RACE
Sanctioned by the Bermuda National Athletic Association
Organized by The West End Athletic Club
Sponsored by Lister Insurance Agency Ltd.
Race Start (NEW FOR 2026!):
- Start just before the Stop Lights at Front and Court Streets, heading West.
Start Time:
- Approx. 9:00 am [start depends on the last cyclist through the start point]
Distance:
- 2.0 miles
Age Groups:
- Girls/Boys 8-10, Girls/Boys 11-12, Girls/Boys 13-15, Girls/Boys 16-17
Age on race date will determine age category
Number Pick Up is on Race Morning:
- Will be at the Supreme Court Parking Lot on Court St., between Front St. & Reid St., opposite the entrance to the Cabinet Office
Prize Giving:
- Will be immediately after the race in Bernard Park in the Junior Classic hospitality area
Volunteers
The Junior Classic would like you to consider volunteering to help with the following duties during the race -
- (1) Start Area
- (8) Course Marshals
- (2) Water Stop Attendants
- (1) Sweep Vehicle (car or bike to follow the last participant)
- (2) Finish Area
Most of the duties will be during the actual race, allowing you to see the action up close.
COURSE (NEW FOR 2026)
FINISH ON DUTTON AVENUE
Start just before the Stop Lights at Front and Court Streets, heading west along Front St., turn right onto Queen St., right onto Church St., all the way to King St and left on King then Left on Victoria St to right on Cedar Avenue onto Marsh Folly Rd., right onto Dutton Ave. to the Finish Line
Running, walking or riding beside a participant during the race will result in the disqualification of that participant.

Participants should be able to complete the event in under 20 minutes, so they do not interfere with the finish of the Bermuda Half Marathon Derby participants.
Failure to do so may result in participant being removed from the course.

This year's event is once again dedicated to the memory of Clarance Smith
Former President of the Bermuda National Athletics Association and father of the Bermuda Marathon Derby record nine time champion Kavin Smith.
Mr. Smith was instrumental in the annual organization of this event and many other athletic related activities in his lifetime.
He passed at the age of 83 in 2025
