Air Travel

If flying is your speed, we have several nearby options to get to the Gulf.

Beginning May 2025, Allegiant Air will connect travelers from six cities across the U.S. to Gulf Shores International Airport (GUF) with non-stop, roundtrip flights. Cincinnati (CVG) and St. Louis/Belleville (BLV) offer year-round flights while the other airports are offering seasonal flights operating through November. The next closest area airport is the Pensacola International Airport(http://www.flypensacola.com/) (located approximately 43 miles from Gulf Shores) which is serviced by all of the major airline carriers. From the airport it is easy to rent a car or hire a shuttle service.

Another option is the Mobile Regional Airport (http://www.mobairport.com). This airport is located approximately 62 miles from Gulf Shores.

By Car

Our beaches are in close proximity to two major interstates: I-10 and I-65.

Cities like Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville, Chicago and Houston are all within a day’s drive of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. And, we are just a few hours away from cities such as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Birmingham and Jackson. Note: EV charging is available in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

RideShare is a great option for overall travel but is to be avoided on race morning! There are not enough Ubers or Lyfts out that early in the am!

Get around by Bike:

Gulf Shores is a great place to get around on a bike or e-bike. By Car:
If you have a vehicle, or have rented a vehicle, the packet pick up location, and race day sites have free parking. The Lodge is located approximately 1 mile from the The HangOut, the venue for Big Beach Marathon and Half Marathon start/finish + post race party.

By Foot:
There is a beachside paved trail should you choose to walk from The Lodge to the start at The HangOut. The distance is roughly 2 miles.

 

Shuttle Service:
The Surfside Shuttle is our preferred shuttle partner for the Big Beach Marathon. They can provide transporation to and from airports as well as transporting you around town after you arrive. Contact them at 251-215-1919. Services include but are not limited to: 

• Tansportation (car service and shuttle) to and from Pensacola airport : shuttle $40 per person per ride at a 3 person minimum or $85 car service per ride for 3 Or less in your group. To your destination of condo or hotel. 

• Transportation to and from Gulf Shores airport shuttle service only to GS $10 per person, $12 to Orange Beach or $18 to Ft Morgan. 

• Transportation car service only from Mobile airport

• Scheduled car and shuttle service (like Uber but scheduled ahead of time) all over the area. Amount due is based on distance. 

 

The Surfside Shuttle will be providing shuttle services from The Lodge to the start line of The HangOut as well as return services back to The Lodge.

Please fill out the shuttle request form on or before January 19, 2026 in order for the shuttle service to allocate the necessary number of vehicles.

Transportation to the Marathon & Half Marathon Start:
Pick Up at the front Lobby of The Lodge. 21196 East Beach Blvd, Gulf Shores, AL 36542
Transport to The Hangout, 101 E. Beach Blvd., Gulf Shores, AL

 

Shuttle service will begin at 5:30AM and will run continuously until 6:30AM. The shuttle driver will pull up to the valet spot and enter the lobby to announce the shuttle is ready for its next trip. Space is on a first come basis. Paymet is due at the time of service, $5 per person payable cash, venmo or square.

 

Shuttle Return Service to The Lodge Post Race
Pick Up at the Hangout (rear parking lot).
Transport to the Lobby of The Lodge.

 

The shuttle will pull into the HangOut parking lot connected to the courtyard (not beachside). Return shuttles will arrive at predetermined times listed. Please be in the parking lot 5 minutes prior to the shuttle scheduled arrival time. Space is on a first come basis. Paymet is due at the time of service, $5 per person payable cash, venmo or square.
