The Biosphere 2 is one of the world's most unique scientific experiments.  Built in the 1980's to house seven scientists to live alone with no outside support, the structures that make up the Biosphere 2 are stunning architectural success story.  Lots has been written and filmed about the experiment, but here are two thought-provoking links:
