Can I register on race day?
There will be NO Race Day Registration, as we anticipate reaching full capacity before race day.
Are strollers allowed on the race course?
Baby joggers/strollers are generally permitted at our races. The half marathon course extends on the upper deck of the Tampa Selmon Expressway and therefore we encourage all participants to take extra precaution to ensure your child(ren)'s safety and review the race waiver when registering. We ask that participants with baby joggers/strollers self-seed to the back of the half marathon & 5K start and to ensure your stroller does not impede other runners.
Are dogs allowed on the race course?
Dogs are welcome at the event; however, for the safety of participants, dogs are not allowed on course during the race.
Will there be pacers for the 5K and/or the Half Marathon?
There will not be pacers for this event.
Is there a time limit to complete the race?
Yes, there is a time limit for the Half Marathon, which is 3 hours and 15 minutes. If you are on course after this point, you will have to option to be picked up and driven to the finish area or to continue to complete the remainder of the course, abiding by Hillsborough County pedestrian laws. Course support and road closures will not be available after this time point.
When and where is packet pickup?
Packet pickup consists of long-sleeve race shirt and chipped bib for half marathon and 5K participants.
Race day packet pickup is available starting at 6:00 a.m.
If you like to avoid packet pickup lines on race morning, pre-race day packet pickup will be announced closer to race day.
Can someone else pick up my packet?
Yes, you may have a designee pick up your packet. It may be helpful to provide your designee with your race registration confirmation or copy of your ID in case there are any questions.
What are the awards?
Awards will be given in the Half Marathon and 5k events to the Top Male and Female Overall, Masters (40+) and Grand Masters (50+) winners and the Top 3 Male and Female in each of the standard 5-year age groups from 14 and under up to 70+.
We will also have Team Awards. One award for the Largest team (comprised of participants from either distance event). Awards will also be presented to the Fastest 5K team and Fastest Half Marathon team (minimum of 3 team members). Fastest team awards are based on best overall aggregate time of the top 3 athletes on the team. Be sure to enter/select your team name when registering so that you and your time can be counted for your team. Participants must be registered on a team no later than Thursday, January 6.
Are there any COVID-related restrictions?
The Brandon Half Marathon & 5K will follow CDC, state and local guidance applicable for an outdoor event. The event will take place live and in-person. Our race organizers will take necessary steps to conduct the event safely based on the prevailing state of COVID at the time and may institute measures to ensure the safety of attendees, as warranted. Although a "virtual" option is not officially offered with this race, should any registrants later desire to run the race "virtually" due to their own situation or concerns, they (or their designee) may still pick up their race shirt during the scheduled packet pickup times. Race shirts will not be mailed and "virtual" participants will not be included in official finisher results. Registration is non-refundable and there are no deferrals for this event.
Am I able to transfer my race entry to another runner?
Yes, you have the option to transfer your entry to another runner with no additional fees. If you decide to transfer your entry, simply click on "Manage Registration" as shown in your email confirmation and then "Transfer to Another Runner". Then following the instructions accordingly. Transfers must be completed prior to race day. Registration is non-refundable and there are no deferrals for this event.
