COURSE MAPS

NOTE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS:
In an effort to reduce congestion on the pedestrian walkway, the Danville Police Department has agreed to close the right lane of the North Bound MLK Bridge to allow ALL RUNNERS to utilize the road which will allow only WALKERS to cross using the pedestrian walkway.
Those participating in the 5K/10K, and 1/2 marathon, will begin their event as they always have by running down Bridge Street, (please beware of the cobblestones), toward Patton Street, but will now cross the Dan River using the Right Hand Traffic lane on the North Bound MLK Bridge which will be closed to traffic. They will take a Right onto the Right Hand Lane of River Street, (58 East), and take another RIGHT onto the sidewalk at the Davenport Gas Company as they proceed to the Riverwalk Trail. IMPORTANT-Here is where the 1/2 marathoners will NOW  take a Right onto the River Walk Trail and head toward the YMCA and the the 5K/10K RUNNERS will enter the River Walk Trail on the Left, headed toward Dan Daniels.
The Walkers will cross the MLK Bridge on the pedestrian sidewalk as they always have done. The will stay on the sidewalk when they get to 58East/ River Street, take a right at Abercrombie Oil and enter the River Walk Trail on the Right, heading toward the YMCA. WALKERS-Please be respectful of the 1/2 marathoners who will be returning when some of you are. Please give them ample space to pass you and don't walk more than 2 abreast. THANK YOU!
The Danville Police Department has been very supportive of this route change and will have ample signage as well as police officers present in order to provide the highest level of safety possible. The runners and walkers will return to the finish line the same way they ran out. This change will allow our walkers the entire pedestrian walkway thus reducing congestion at the start and finish of each race.

Thank you for your interest in our Kids1/2 Mile Fun Run! This 0.50 mile course is out and back and for children ages 10 & under. The race will begin and end at the start/finish line, located just outside the Community Market. The kids course will take a right onto Colquhoun Street, they will run through the parking lot and left onto the River Walk Trail to the turn around which will be marked by the water stop and our volunteers. The runners return back to the finish line guided by cones and volunteers to ensure participants safety.

Half Marathon

2025 Half Marathon Course:

To our half marathon participants, please note that the race course for this year, 2025, has been changed. The Showdown @ Angler’s Ridge, a premier USA Cycling and UCI-sanctioned mountain bike race, which will take place at Anglers Park the same weekend as Bridge2Bridge, April 11-13, 2025. As a result, we are unable to utilize this space for our runners.
We have come up with a new course which will be flat and fast. Because we received alot of positive feedback about the course last year, we are pleased to announce that it will be back again in 2026. We appreciate your continued support of B2B and our mission to support the efforts of the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association and appreciate your understanding in this matter.
The 1/2 marathon will begin at the Community Market and head down Bridge Street, this year runners will run across the MLK Bridge on the road, in the right hand lane which will be closed to traffic, runners will take a Right onto 58 East/River Street on the road, also closed to traffic and take a Right at Abercrombie Oil and take a Right onto the RiverWalk Trail toward the YMCA. The opposite direction of last year. Runners will continue on the RWT until they reach Kennys Auto Body Shop on the right, they will exit onto Commerce Street, and a Left onto Trade Street then pick up the sidewalk which brings you behind the movie theatre, runners will continue over the Robertson Bridge and turn around where the trail ends. Runners will return the way they came but continuing on the RWT toward Dan Daniels, the turn around will be the same turn around for the 10K runners, which is near Ghost Island. They will then return to the Community Market exiting the trail near Abercrombie Oil, crossing the MLK Bridge on the now Left hand lane of the Bridge turning Left onto Bridge Street and back to the finish line. **The runners will be sharing the trail on the return near the YMCA with the walkers.
