Farm STEM

This is a MEET AT EVENT: Coastal Roots Farm; Encinitas, CA

Join Community Recreation for a visit to Coastal Roots Farm for a dynamic and hands-on STEM workshop. Ages 5 -16 years welcome. 

Experience first-hand the importance of soil health and how farmers influence the soil to impact what grows.

Children will:

K-6th grade students will be led through the  “Dirt Made My Lunch” program for about 90 minutes.

7th-12th grade students will be led through the “FBI: Good vs. Bad” program for about 2 hours.

Students are welcome to use our nature play area during the 30 minutes that they are waiting for the older group to finish their program.  

In order to ensure all participants’ comfortability and safety, please make sure that everyone arrives at the Farm with the following:  

·         Clothes they don't mind getting dirty  

·         Closed-toed shoes  

·         Face mask (at this point we are still requiring all guests to wear masks) 

·         Weather protection (ie. Sunhat, sunscreen, rain jacket/umbrella, layers) 

·         A reusable water bottle

Directions and Parking: 

On the day of your trip, cars can enter through 441 Saxony Road. Please have drivers check in with the security guard and park in the Apple parking lot on the right-hand side. Once parked, have students, accompanied by their chaperone, walk back towards the Farm and meet the Education Team on the Farm Green for the start of the program. 

*This is not a drop off program.  Parents must remain on property but will not be participating in this program.*
