Strides Towards Equality

Strides Towards Equality is a virtual event that will celebrate real awareness. My intent and sincere aim is to start a conversation recognizing the marginalized groups for whom the simple act of going out for a run can sometimes be unpleasant or even dangerous. Everything from how they may identify themselves, to what they may be wearing, to even when and where they may be running are factors that might need to be addressed before each run. I believe all of us regardless as to whether these barriers are ever an issue in our lives, should do all we can to understand and support what many in our running communities are experiencing on a daily basis. The right to run should be inclusive. Let's Lace Up Together!

I am offering a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon and a Relay which can be applied to any distance. Even though this may be a virtual event in the scope that folks will be participating on their own time and a course of their choosing, I sincerely hope you will gather safely in groups and accomplish your distances while coming together as a more enlightened community.

Official race day takes place on June 2, 2021, coinciding with Global Running Day. You may choose your own day(s) to complete your registered distance as well as your own course. Please be safe and aware that the Strides Towards Equality community is with you in spirit and wishing you all the best. All participants will receive a Strides Towards Equality bib, t-shirt and finishers medal. I will be sharing many of the issues and possible solutions that this event is addressing and as participants I hope you are ambassadors for change and safer running conditions for us all. Let's create a universal consciousness and learn to respect each other. Thanks.
