WHEN: Saturday, October 12, 2019
WHERE: Fine Gold Recreation area at the end of Sky Harbor Road in Friant, CA (just north of Fresno)
WHAT: Quite possibly the hardest sprint Tri you have done yet… Are you ready to earn your BAMF medal of honor?  With nearly 4,000ft of climbing in just under 15 miles of course, this one is sure to put your grit (and quads) to the test!
This race will be based out of the Fine Gold Recreation Area, north of Millerton.
The swim will be in the Millerton Lake inlet. Nothing particularly difficult about the swim, except that it is October and will be COLD!  Depending on water level this fall, the swim with be somewhere between 400-500 yards.  The absolute longest it can/will be is 500 yards.  There will be kayak support. 
The bike will be 12 miles out and back on-road, down Sky Harbor Boulevard, known for its unrelenting hills. While this bike is on-road, mountain or gravel bikes would be perfectly acceptable on this route. This is NOT a good route for cruiser style bikes.  Climbing is approximately 2,700 ft of gain on this course.  Check out the Garmin Connect map here:  
The run [hike] will be 2.7 miles on the trail, straight up the infamous Pincushion Hill, then a scenic run down the backside and back into the transition/finish area.  This hike/run has approximately 1,070ft of elevation gain, and is entirely front loaded.  Enjoy the views from the top, and then be rewarded with a gorgeous, downhill run back to the finish line.  Garmin Connect map here:  
Duathlon/Run/Bike - Not interested in the Mid October polar bear plunge?  There is also a duathlon, and hike/bike only options .... if you have to wimp out of the swim. The duathlon with be bike-run format only, due to the fact that doing pincushion before your bike is probably not a good idea 😉

This race is sanctioned with USAT.  USAT membership or one day license is required and can be entered or purchased during registration. 
REFUND POLICY: Full refunds available to early bird registrants until August 31st. Just send me an email. (refund is minus RunSignUp fees)
Medical refund of 75% of entry fee OR full deferral to next year’s race available until Sept 30th with Dr. Note.
