Race History

The Race2Unravel began in 2018 as a community-driven event focused on raising awareness and funding for pediatric cancer. It has since evolved into a more focused and competitive 5K and 10K race, allowing participants to channel their energy into a purpose-driven effort.

Description

Join us in Gilroy, California on Saturday, August 16, 2025, for the Race2Unravel — a powerful day of ACTION in the fight against childhood cancer.

This 5K & 10K race isn’t just about miles — it’s a movement. By running, sponsoring, or donating, you're helping fund critical pediatric cancer research and honoring the children who inspire us: those still fighting, those we’ve lost, and the future we refuse to give up on.

Move with purpose. Show up with heart. Race2Unravel...until there is a cure!

About the Course:
The route begins at Christmas Hill Park (Ranch Side) and winds through parts of the Uvas Creek Levee Park Preserve, following the Uvas Creek Levee Trail. The course is mainly flat and fully paved, offering a scenic run through one of Gilroy’s most beautiful natural areas.

To ensure a smooth and confident experience for all participants, there will be prominent course signage and clearly marked turnaround points.

And for our youngest supporters, we've added a Kids Fun Run at the end of the event on the grassy area - an opportunity for children to get involved and feel the spirit of the day.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:

No Pets Allowed
This is a Cupless Race - Please bring your own water bottle.
Strollers are allowed but please start toward the back and give the right of way on the narrower portions of the course.

Age Requirements

All Participants for the 5k & 10k races must be 13* years old on race day.

The fun run is for children ages 2-12 years old.

*If you would like to register, a serious youth racer under 13 years old, please contact the race organizers.

Awards

Awards Ceremony: 9:45AM

Place medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in both male and female category of the 10K & 5K.

Children will receive participation awards for the Fun Run.

Race Packet Options

Participants have the option to add shipping for their event t-shirt and bib during registration. The deadline to select this option is July 25.

Alternatively, t-shirts and bibs will be available for in-person pickup at race day check-in, beginning at 7:30 AM on Saturday, August 16 at Christmas Hill Park (Ranch Side).

Participants may pick up race packets on behalf of other registered runners, provided they have proper approval and are able to verify that all registration information is accurate.
