ASH Summer 5K Race for Diversity & Inclusion

ASH Summer 5K Race for Diversity & Inclusion is for all ASH regular and temporary employees. The event will take place July 30, 2021. As we’re proudly celebrating fitness AND wellness, everyone gets to choose when, where, and HOW to take part. Run, walk, swim, bike, meditate, work out, do yoga — it all counts as participation!

It's not a race!

What matters is your participation. Whether you take a casual walk, run, or cartwheel at a record-breaking pace, what is important is that you have fun and you try to challenge yourself to do a little more than usual. If you want to challenge others to make it more competitive, we definitely encourage you to do that too! 

It's a virtual 5K

Whatever activity you choose to meet this fitness and wellness challenge, we’ve set it up for your convenience on July 30, 2021. Do it any hour of the day (or night!) You can participate during your break, lunch period, before or after your regularly scheduled shift. You can choose a location in your neighborhood, at your favorite beach, or on a trail. You can also walk or run the 3.1-mile distance on your treadmill, in your living room, or backyard (some have done it!). 

Join the discussion on Teams

We've created an ASH Summer 5K Race for Diversity & Inclusion Teams Channel. We encourage you to join in on the fun and get engaged with other participants. You can cheer, encourage, or challenge them. You can also ask questions about the event. We'd also love it if you could post pictures of you showcasing your pride for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, by acknowledging differences through art, heritage, and cultural activities. We would also like to see your videos and other comments during the event on the Teams channel!

Participate in the FUN!

Get Ready to Blaze a Trail at the ASH Summer 5K! The Social Activities Committee (SAC) is hosting the ASH Summer 5K Race for Diversity & Inclusion Selfie Contest. Snap a picture of yourself doing something that showcases your cultural identity, or a selfie of you experiencing another culture during your fitness/wellness challenge. Post and share your picture on the ASH 5K Race for Diversity & Inclusion Teams channel for your chance to win a Gift Card! The most creative and diversity-friendly “liked” photos will win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes, up to $50! 

Charities and Goodies

When you're active, you are doing good for your own wellbeing. For this event, we want to make sure that your hard work will also benefit someone else. We are partnering with the Urban League to make difference. Together we can make a huge impact in the lives of others, who need help!

• Every 5K finisher that submits their results in RunSignUp, can elect one of the options below:
  • 1. No t-shirt and maximize ASH's donation to Diversity, OR
  • 2.  Get a t-shirt and ASH will still make a smaller donation on your behalf.
