January 1, 2021 - the dawn of a new year with new resolutions and a hope to return to normal racing and events in the future.  While we can't have a regular race we can keep moving forward and keep fit.

The New Year's Resolution Ramble is your chance to kick off 2021 with a resolve to keep moving, get fit or stay fit.

What sports/activities can I do?

Here's the fun part - you can pretty much do anything!

  • Walk
  • Jog or Run
  • Ride a Bike (outside or stationary)
  • Swim
  • SUP - prone, standup, or whatever!

For example, you might choose to swim a 10K, bike your own challenge distance, and run a progressive marathon within the month.  You are not limited to one activity and you can mix and match. So set your goals and plot your course.

Who can do this?

Anyone!  Seasoned athlete, beginner or aspiring swimmer, runner, cyclist, or some doing rehab from an injury.  No experience required and it's a great activity for the whole family.  There's also a team option for co-workers, families, neighborhoods, etc.

What are you waiting for?

Step 1 - Commit and Choose Your distance.  You can choose from a 5K, 10K, Half or Full Marathon, or you can pick your own distance. You can also choose to do all of them for the same price and fill up your month with different activities. and distances.  For example a 5K in week one, a 10K in week two, and so on.  If you've always wanted to do a full marathon you can do that or you can split it up over a several days as a progressive marathon.  The possibilities for how you do this are virtually limitless.

Even if you've never run or walked much you can do this - just do it a little bit at a time and you'll amaze yourself at how far you can go.  You've got the whole month of January to work on your goals. For example, if you are rehabbing from an injury and you choose to walk just a half mile each day you can do a 5K in a week.  As you get stronger you walk longer.

Step 2 - Register and Share your choice with your friends on Facebook.  Get them to join you. Its always more fun with friends.

Step 3 - Join the Resolution Ramble Facebook (@ResolutionRamble) to share your experiences, meet up with other Ramblers to get hints and encouragement. Find new training partners.

Step 4 - Join our weekly Zoom calls where we'll be able to meet and greet and listen to some really cool speakers.  We'll end the month with an online wine-tasting party!

What happens after I register?

You'll get connected to an amazing community to Ramblers doing the same thing.  That means you'll get face to face with some folks you haven't seen for awhile and you'll get to meet some new people.  Who know, maybe you'll get meet some new training partners. We'll give you access to our weekly zoom sessions to keep you connected and motivated.  You'll be able to join our Facebook Page and upload your photos and/or share your photos on this site to share.

How do I keep track of my results?

You'll have a step by step guide to entering your results online.  Each day you do an activity you will log your results and get a tally of total miles for each activity.  There are even some really cool GPS tools we'll be making available so you can see where you rambled every day.

Is there a charity partner?

Yes.  We will give Rotary Charities and Grants a portion of the registration proceeds, plus you'll be able to donate directly by clicking on that "DONATE" box at the top if you have a bit more to give.

Alberti Vineyards - Our Fun Sponsor!

We've got some fun planned for the end of the month!  Our sponsor Alberti Vineyards is going to be hosting a virtual wine tasting at our last Zoom call of the month.  Additionally, they are making a special offer for Resolution Rambler participants.

As producers of a very fine boutique Pinot Noir the wine makers have curated a selection of three vintages into a tasting pack just for us.  This wine usually sells for $45 to $60 retail.  For $115 they  have created a wine tasting party with three bottles of wine and a tasting party in a box.  This price includes all applicable taxes, shipping and handling.

Alberti Vineyard will be sponsoring a wine tasting party at our weekly Zoom call on January 28th.  You don't need to have their wine for the party but we guarantee it would be worth it!  You get all you need for the tasting party with the wine.  Plus, you can also purchase for your friends and family for the holidays.  It would make a great gift.

We can't sell it online though, because we don't have the correct brokerage and tax capability.  There is a box to check during registration to indicate your interest.  Your information will be forwarded to Alberti Vineyards and they will be in contact with you.  You are also free to contact the winery directly and just mention that you want the Resolution Ramble price and they will take care of it.

We want to connect with you! Join our Zoom calls each week.

Every Thursday in January we will be hosting a Zoom call for any Ramblers who want to join us.  At each call we'll have a guest speaker who will speak to a topic related to motivation, the benefits of regular exercise, nutrition, and various other topics.

It's our way to make this more personal and engaging for all of you.  We will post up the zoom links with topics and speakers as we go. Here's a chance for getting to know each other, making new training and activity connections, and just seeing some faces we haven't seen in many months!  We can't wait.

The dates for the calls will be

January 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 7:00pm PST.

The calendar content and special guests will be listed in the Zoom Meeting Info link at the top of this page.

January 28 will be reserved for Alberti Vineyard for a special wine tasting party!
