The Two Shoes Trek Challenge / Hybrid / The Greenest Race in Town

Sat September 4 - Sat September 11 Colorado Springs, CO 80903 US

Pikes Peak Road Runners (PPRR) and the Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC) have collaborated again to bring a unique challenge in 2021; in place of the long-running American Discovery Trail races, participate in a new hybrid challenge! The two organizations have worked together for years to hold the ADT Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10k races, where all proceeds were given back to our community. We are dedicated to trail stewardship and community running events striving to make the Pikes Peak Region a great place to live and be active as a family. Please help continue this community-based effort by running a unique challenge and contributing to our important community cause.

PPRR was informed early in 2020 that the City of Colorado Springs would not be allowing any events to take place in America the Beautiful Park due to the construction of the Olympic museum and pedestrian bridge. We immediately started searching for new venues to hold a quality event. COVID-19 then gripped the world and instead of canceling the ADT races all together, we reimagined what racing to benefit our community could look like in 2020, creating the Two Shoes Trek Challenge / 2020 Virtual.

The Two Shoes Trek Challenge has evolved for 2021 to include a live event which will take place in El Paso County’s Fox Run Regional Park. Along with the Fox Run event, a virtual event will take place in two City Parks, Monument Valley Park and Palmer Park, creating the Two Shoes Trek Challenge 2021 Hybrid.

This event showcases several county and city trails throughout our unique and beautiful landscape. Participants will run a 5-mile, 10-mile, or 15-mile course virtually on September 4, 5, or 6 in either Monument Valley Park or Palmer Park.  The following weekend a live event will be held in Fox Run Regional Park. Participants will have the opportunity to run a 5k, 10k, or 30k. All proceeds from these events will go directly back into the Colorado Springs community for park and trail maintenance and to help PPRR with its mission of cultivating health and fitness in the Pikes Peak region through a community of runners and friends.

All donations will be split between El Paso County Parks, Trails and Open Space Coalition and Pikes Peak Road Runners.

City of Colorado Springs Parks Rules and Regulations – Public Health Guidance

Do not use parks, trails and open spaces if you are exhibiting symptoms.  If you are experiencing symptoms, it’s important to stay home when sick

Follow the CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to and during use of the parks or trails.  Bring hand sanitizer with you to clean your hands if soap and water are not available.

Users may find public restrooms closed.  Be prepared before you leave and time outings so that you are not dependent on public restrooms.

Bring water or drinks.  Public drinking fountains may be disabled and should not be used even if operable.

While on trails, warn other users of your presence before you pass, and step aside to let others pass.  Signal your presence with your voice.

Observe the minimum recommended physical social distancing of 6 feet from other individuals.  If this is not possible, users should find an alternate location or depart that space.  Practice it and know what it looks like.

Do not gather in groups of more than 10 or engage in any activity where you cannot maintain at least 6 feet from other people.  This includes activities involving physical contact or sharing or equipment

Do not touch any surfaces that are likely to be touched by other people.  Park staff is applying extra disinfectant weekly to playground equipment, but the safest thing is to refrain from touching these surfaces.  That said, the City also asks that you understand that outdoor play is important for children especially at times like this.  So if you take your kids to a playground, consider wiping down equipment with disinfectant wipes before and after use.  Of course kids should also clean their hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

Bring a suitable trash bag.  Leave no trace, take everything out to protect park workers.

During this virtual event, there will be no medical personnel, no course marshals, and no water stations – so please plan accordingly.

Absolutely NO Refunds.
