2021 Spring Runoff is a Virtual Race to keep Pueblo healthy and the infection rate low. So we are just promoting a fun challenge for elementary school PE teachers and families to get the kids running. Maybe plan a PE session or encourage families to participate in at home - whatever works for your school.
It is Funner to be a Runner so we would love to see kids run virtually! Please share pictures and let us see their happy little feet running!
We don't have our normal school competition so sign up is not necessary but if people want to post pictures, they need to register for a free sign up.
Free race for children 8th grade and younger as part of the Spring Run Off. In past years we've had over 450 kids in these races so please get registered early and assemble on the football field areas listed by 10:30 a.m.
10:45 a.m.: 50-yard dash for kids Kindergarten and younger (starts on 50 yard line and goes to west endzone)
10:50 a.m.: 1.2-mile run for kids in grades 4-8 (gather at BLUE balloons in end zone)
11:00 a.m.: 1.2-mile run for kids in grades 3 and younger (gather at RED balloons in the end zone)
The 1.2 mile run leaves the stadium, down the dirt road to the river trail, goes left (upriver) along the dirt trail, turns around by Wildhorse Creek bridge and returns on the concrete trail to the dirt road, onto and around the stadium track to finish at the regular finish line in front of the stands.
In 2021, The Southern Colorado Runners is dedicating all of the proceeds of the Spring Runoff to Care of Share of Pueblo to stomp out hunger. We invite participants to donate to Care and Share directly while registering or bring a canned food to the race and drop it in the truck!
School competition is suspended for 2021, we just want to see kids run at school or with family. You can share pictures if you register.
The school that has the most participants picking up a bib to run on race day gets to take home the Traveling Trophy!
A couple elementary schools have made this a pretty good competition bringing over 100 kids to the race to take home the trophy. So make sure you give your school credit when you sign up! We encourage you to sign up on line to skip long line on race day to register - just go to pre-registered table to pick up bib and pins.

We encourage parents to stay in the stadium for a photo finish or watch the race unfold from the trail overlook just outside the stadium. We often have teachers run with students from their school and we have volunteers on the course.
Parents often ask if they can escort their child, especially the little ones. Parents may escort their child but need to register and sign the liability waiver. When you register online, select "Teacher/Parent Escort" instead of a school. Parents and teachers may also sign up race morning.
We want to keep everyone safe, so we ask any adults escorting on the course allow the mad dash of kids to go ahead of them until the field of runners spreads out a bit. We don't want anyone tripping and a bigger person landing on a smaller person.
