We couldn't gather together for our usual 3 months of Thursday night summer racing this year, but that isn't stopping us from being active and it shouldn't stop you either!
For 12 weeks this summer, we'll be hosting the 'run at your own time' virtual 6 pack races.
Step One: Sign up for all six or just for one of the six event dates. Registration and participation is FREE. You are welcome to make an optional donation to 3W Races for hosting these virtual runs and supporting the software for the runs.
Step Two: Download the RaceJoy app on your mobile device (optional - you can still participate without the app). Each event will be 'open' for 2 weeks for you to run on your own at your own location, or use the RaceJoy app and run at the 'real' race course site at Westminster's Westbrook Park. At this time, the RaceJoy app is enabled for the specific GPS coordinates at the Westbrook Park 5k course and will only be active for that course during the dates listed here for each event. Alternatively, you are welcome to run the 5k distance ANYWHERE that is comfortable for you, including your own treadmill indoors. If that is your choice, do NOT use the RaceJoy app.
Step Three: RUN! Choose our course at Westbrook park in Westminster (where you can use the GPS tracking app, RaceJoy) or run on your own elsewhere! There are Six Event windows available. Our intention is that you sign up for all six events and then pick a date within each of the six date windows and run your fastest. If you want to try for your fastest time on multiple attempts during the date window, go for it! The app will offer you a redo option when you run the course more than once in the two week window.
As long as you're following social distancing guidelines for your area, we encourage you to connect with other runners and 'race' the course together! The app will be active 24 hours a day during the date windows listed!
Step Four: View your results within the RaceJoy app. That result will also be sent automatically to the results listing here! If you didn't use RaceJoy, use your own tracking and then submit that result or results from your treadmill or other device) right here on the RunSignUp page! You are also welcome to submit that you completed the run without sharing your specific time, if that is your style. We just want to celebrate that you got out and got active!!
Step Five: Keep training and attempt your NEXT fast 5k in the following two week window - go back to step Three and repeat until all six sessions are complete at the end of the summer!
