With the ongoing uncertainty of “live events” in the wake of Covid, and the continued hardship being felt within our local communities, we will be holding a Virtual Run 21 Challenge Event this year in lieu of our traditional Run for Ryan Memorial 5K Race/Walk. Proceeds from the event will be going into the “Ryan French Memorial Scholarship Fund” which provides Scholarships to well deserving Killingly Ag-Ed Seniors going onto higher education.
This year, we would like to honor and celebrate Ryan’s 21st birthday by offering a fun-filled event, and, of course, we will still add a competitive aspect for those who love the thrill of competition! Participants are asked challenge themselves to Run 21.
Set your own Challenge!
Set a target that suits you, whether it is;
Whatever you choose, you have 21 days to run, walk or bike to complete your goal!
As you complete each run simply return to this web site and upload the distance / time completed.
Ryan French was a resident of Thompson and a student in the Ag-Ed Program at Killingly High School who sadly passed away in 2017. While at KHS, Ryan was a 3-year Varsity runner in Cross Country, 2-year Varsity runner in Outdoor Track, and ECC All-Star in both sports, and a Scholar Athlete. Ryan had a significant impact on the people around him, both young and old alike. Ryan possessed many good qualities and core values including leadership, motivation, dedication, sportsmanship, and pride in all that he did both on, and off, the track and cross-country trails. The proceeds from this event will be going into the “Ryan French Memorial Scholarship Fund” which provides Scholarships to well deserving Killingly Ag-Ed Seniors going onto higher education.
Since its inception in 2017, the Ryan French Memorial Scholarship Fund has provided a total of $12,400 in Scholarships to 21 Ag-Ed Seniors. We look forward to continuing to award these Scholarships, and honor Ryan’s memory, for many years to come.
