Course Descriptions

As a virtual 5k, you can decide your own run/walk course.  If you would like to run in East Granby and are looking for ideas on where to run/walk, consider the following courses.  If you have questions or would like additional information, feel free to contact Shirley Woods, Race Director.

  1. One option is the race course that we use for our in-person event.  This course begins and ends at East Granby Farms, North Main Street, East Granby.   It begins at the North Entrance parking lot of East Granby Farms, heads north on 187N to High Farm Road, travels up and down High Farm Road and then continues on 187N to Austin Brook Drive. This three way intersection is the turnaround point. The course then heads south on 187 back to East Granby Farm's North Entrance. The final portion of the course follows an off-road grassy path to the finish line near the painted silo.
  2. Another option starts at the cul-de-sac of Mount Vernon Drive in East Granby, across to Washington Ridge, down Adam, then Concord, back up Washington Ridge and then ending at the cul-de-sac of Mount Vernon.
  3. You may also want to consider running/walking the bike path between Route 20 and Copper Hill.  Down and back, the route is a 5k. You can park in the lot on Rt. 20/Turkey Hills Rd. that is labeled the Newgate Cooperative Wildlife Management Area and walk/run down and back.
  4. Another course to consider is the bike path that starts at Copper Hill and you can walk/run into Suffield.  Once you see "Tort" spray painted on the path, you have reached halfway. More noticeably, you can turn when the fencing starts before the Phelps Road parking lot.
