Join Fairfield Parks & Recreation for our Annual Beach Bunny 5K! 

 

We are excited to invite you and your loved ones to participate in Fairfield Parks & Recreation's "Beach Bunny" 5K. Run, walk, skip, hop. It doesn't matter. We want you to get out, have fun, get moving, enjoy the outdoors and, most of all, share the experience with us, your friends and family! 

IMPORTANT DATES & EVENT TIMES

January 1st: Registration Opens 
January 31st: Last day of Early Bird Registration Fee
March 15th: Guaranteed shirt sizing ends March 15th. After this date, "As Available" and we could run out. 
March 25th - March 27th: T-Shirt & Bib Pickup at Fairfield Parks & Recreation 9:00am - 4:00pm
March 28th: T-Shirt & Bib Pickup at Fairfield Parks & Recreation 10:00am - 6:00pm
March 29th T-Shirt & Bib Pickup at Fairfield Parks & Recreation 10:00am - 2:00pm
March 30th: Event Day. All registration is online only. No paper/cash onsite. 
     8:00am Pickup & late registration (online only) for the 5K

The Beach Bunny 5K is a 5K, 3.1mi distance, computer chip-timed event. Participants of all abilities are welcome to run or walk this event. Registration fee includes Computer Chipped-Bib. 

FAMILY BUNNY HOP                 ALL PARTICIPANTS

The Family Bunny Hop is a 1mi, free event. It is not timed and registration does not include a T-Shirt or bib. This one mile walk is perfect for the entire family! Costumes encouraged! Let's see those Bunny Ears! 

EASTER EGG SCRAMBLES     ALL PARTICIPANTS

The children's Easter Egg Scrambles are free community events taking place on Jennings Beach. Parents, please take note:The Easter Egg Scramble for children 5 & younger starts at 11:00am sharp!  The Easter Egg Scramble for children 6 & older starts at 11:05am sharp! Please note this event is BYOB (Bring your own Basket!) 

FAQ

Who is hosting this event?  The event is hosted by Fairfield Parks & Recreation. All proceeds raised from The Beach Bunny 5K will be used to fund future Parks & Recreation programs and events. Your generous support and financial contribution enable us to put together a full calendar of community events and programs. 

Will there be food?! Candlewood Market will be onsite selling coffee, tea and packaged pastries, cookies and treats. In addition, Breakfast Sammies will be available to purchase from Tasty Yolk. Complimentary water, granola bars and bananas will be available for our runners. 

Are strollers permittedYes! Runners and walkers are invited to participate while pushing a baby jogger and stroller. We ask you to stay towards the back of the line to allow runners to pass easily.  Show us your spirit!! Costumery & stroller decoration strongly recommended!

Are dogs permitted? Yes! Furry family members are allowed at our 5K run/walk as long as they are leash trained and do well in crowds. We also ask that pet parents take care of pet duties responsibly. Show us your spirit!! Costumery is strongly recommended! 

What is your Refund Policy?  Due to the fundraising nature of this event, please note that refunds are not available. 

Rain or Shine?  Please note our 5K will be taking place, rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, we will cancel our Children's Easter Egg Scrambles and Family Bunny Hop.

Do I need to bring a basket for the Easter Egg Scrambles?  Yes! If you plan on participating in our complimentary children's Easter Egg Scrambles, please plan to BYOB (Bring your own basket!) 

PARKING

Complimentary Parking is located onsite at Jennings Beach 880 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT 06824. Please note, there is no parking along the J4 - J6 Fenceline (also known as the "dog leg"). If you prefer to stay further removed from the festivities, you can always park at Ash Creek Open Space Parking Lot (471 Turney Road, Fairfield CT 06824) and walk over. Arrive early! We expect lots to fill! 

SWAG

Whether you are running, walking, skipping or hopping our Beach Bunny 5K, you're sure to live "hoppily" ever after in your new Softstyle shirt! This awesome 50/50 cotton/polyester blend comes in Graphite Heather and is the type of shirt you wear long after the 5K! Shirt size choices will not be guaranteed after March 15, 2024. After that only "As Available" and we could run out.

Shirt & Bib pickup available at Parks & Recreation (75 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield CT 06824)  Monday March 25th - Wednesday March 27th 9:00am - 4:00pm, Thursday March 28th 10:00am - 6:00pm and Friday March 29th 10:00am - 2:00pm. We will also have pickup & late registration starting at 8:00am on event day, Saturday March 30th, at Jennings Beach (880 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT 06824). Please proceed to the Parks & Recreation Tents adjacent to the Concession Building.  

RESULTS & AWARDS

Results will be emailed to registered participants of our 5K who have enabled result notifications. A QR Code will also be posted on the wall of the Jennings Beach Concession Building, alongside our Registration Tent, with a link to results in progress. 

We are egg-stremely egg-cited to offer the following awards: First, Second & Third Place Edible Medallions, care of Noteworthy Chocolates, will be awarded to the age groups 9 & under, 10 - 13, 14 - 18, 19 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, 70 - 79 and 80+.  1st place age group edible medallions will be awarded to our non-binary competitors. Grand Prize Cookie Platters will be awarded to the overall fastest Male & Female Runners, courtesy of Alina's Cakes & Cookies

There will be a brief recognition of our overall fastest Beach Bunny 5K Champions (with photo op, of course). Age group awards will be distributed from a table (next to our timing van) at the finish line as soon as the results are made readily available. If you leave early or are unable to take your medal upon leaving, we'll have the medals available for pickup the week of April 1st - April 5th at our Parks & Recreation Office (75 Mill Plain Road, Fairfield CT 06824). Please note, due to the edible nature of these medals, we will discard (or eat!) and remaining medals after April 5th.

Marty Schaivone, veteran race director, has over 30 years of experience in the industry and will help coordinate this event. His company, MS Running Productions, directs and consults on over 30 of the most popular Run & Walk Events throughout Fairfield County including the Hot Oil 5K, Fairfield Police Sunset Run, Bigelow Tea 5K, the Great Pumpkin Classic in Trumbull, the Vicki Soto Run in Stratford and many others in Bridgeport, Milford and beyond.
