Place

80 East Ridge Road
Ridgefield Playhouse Parking Lot
Ridgefield, CT US 06877

Description

Can you outrun the police? The Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association hosts this fun and unique 5k that benefits the Women's Center of Greater Danbury. The runners all get a head start, then the Ridgefield Police Officers "give chase!"  The sponsor of this event will give an extra $1 per runner for every runner that the officers collectively "catch" (pass)! Runners who register before October 24 will receive a souvenir tech tee shirt (women's fit available).

IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE WASTE, THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO BE GUARANTEED A SHIRT IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24 at midnight.

After that date, you will have to wait until race day to see what we have from the no-show shirts.

Starting and finishing at the parking lot of the Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 7:30 AM, this family-friendly race winds it's way around downtown Ridgefield and traverses roads, wooded trails, around buildings, and the Ridgefield Rail Trail! Please note that this is a multi-surface course involving roads, sidewalks, stairs, grassy fields, wooded single-track trails, and the hard-packed gravel of the Ridgefield Rail Trail. Some surfaces might be slippery and you might get muddy!

Packet Pickup:

  • Saturday, 11/2, from 10a-5p at Ridgefield Running Company, 423 Main Street (note new location from last year)
  • Sunday, 11/3 at The Ridgefield Playhouse (race location) beginning at 6:45 AM
  • Race day registration is available and will be $45. Cash (exact change appreciated), credit card, or check made out to Run On, LLC is accepted. Give yourself extra time if you choose this option!

Limited parking is available at Yanity Gym and Ridgefield Playhouse parking lots. (Note that you might not be able to exit the lot while the race is in progress.) Plentiful parking is available at East Ridge Middle School and the Town of Ridgefield's Governor Street lots.

FAQ and RULES

  • Are strollers and dogs allowed on the race? NO strollers or dogs for safety reasons.
  • Can I wear headphones? No. This course is unique and can be challenging. The roads are open to traffic and much of the course is single-track. You need to be able to hear volunteer instructions, approaching vehicles, and when someone wants to pass you.
  • Can someone else use my entry? NO!  For safety reasons, we need to know exactly who is on the course. If a runner needs medical attention we use the info from the race bib to make emergency contacts. Plus, wearing another's bib can interfere with the age group and even overall race results. Please do not "give" your bib to others. You may transfer it through our system, though! Click here to find out how, but you must do the transfer before October 31.
  • My friend/spouse/child is not registered. Can he/she just run with me? NO! This is called "banditing" and is essentially using race resources without paying for them. It's also a safety issue, and even if that person doesn't take the medal or use the potties, they are still using resources they haven't paid for. We have capacity limits set for the race as per Ridgefield Police Dept, so it's also like crashing a wedding or party you didn't RSVP for. Please don't bandit races, it's just being a jerk.
  • I can't make it to Package Pick Up, can a friend pick up for me?  Yes.
  • Does the race happen rain or shine?  You bet!  Unless there is a natural disaster that prevents a safe race course, there will be a race!
  • I can't race, can I get a refund? Sorry, no refunds or transfers for any reason (including medical); races are planned months in advance. We pay vendors and have to buy runner gifts quite early in the planning process (it's a bit like a wedding!). You can transfer your entry to someone else before October 31; find out how by clicking here.
