For some people, the Covid-19 outbreak has only led to working from home and limiting social interactions with friends. For others, it has taken away jobs, family members, and other important aspects of life. As a result of the pandemic, millions of people are required to stay home in order to slow the spread of the virus. Some of these home-bound people are now forced to live with domestic abusers. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, the number of domestic abuse cases has increased and will only continue to do so. There are organizations dedicated to assisting those who face domestic violence, but some organizations are facing the concern of lacking proper resources to help people in light of Covid-19. The Network in Enfield, Connecticut is a wonderful organization that offers guidance and a safe haven for those experiencing domestic abuse. You can do your part to help in these trying times by participating in or donating to this 5k run or walk. The money raised from this 5k will be donated to The Network so the organization can continue its programs. While it is uncertain how long this pandemic will last, it is evident that people must stick together as a community and help those who need it most right now.
The Network's Mission Statement:
The Network assists families and individuals who have experienced domestic and intimate partner violence, educates to promote healthy relationships, and advocates for safer communities.
With a strong and dedicated staff, we work together to achieve the mission of our agency while implementing and promoting client and child-related programs. We continue to progress in schools and update our curriculum to educate children in areas of bullying, self-esteem, healthy friendships, and teen dating violence. We strive to increase our educational efforts in our catchment area towns beyond Enfield and Suffield.
