Saturday, September 19th the Sohn Kids races will start at 11:00 AM 

Sunday, September 20th both the Half Marathon and 5k will start at 8:00 AM

Both races will start on Michigan Ave in front of the Lansing Center and showcase some of Lansing’s best scenery, including Michigan Ave, Grand River Ave, the MSU campus, and the beautiful Lansing River Trail. Runners will finish in downtown Lansing near Grand Ave and Adado Park, where the celebration continues!

Streetside parking is available for free on Sundays in Lansing. The bottom level of the Lansing Community College parking lot has been reserved, as well as the lots surrounding Impression 5 Science Center

Yes, you can pick up for others at Packet Pickup. Tell us the first and last name of the person you are picking up for. We'll confirm all of the details and provide your bib #, safety pins and race swag.  Bib #'s are assigned at packet pickup.

ll Half Marathon and 5K participants will receive a commemorative sweatshirt and finisher medal to celebrate their achievement. The event is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. 

The Sohn's kid race is a flat fee of $10 

Half Marathon is $75 until 8/13 and then increases to $81 from 8/14 to race day 9/20 

5k is $42 until 8/13 and then increases to $47 from 8/14 to race day 9/20

This event will be held rain or shine, there are no refunds for this event. As you can imagine there is a lot of planning that goes into an event and costs associated with the event. T-shirts, awards, refreshments, etc. all have to be ordered ahead of time. If the race is cancelled for any reason, including weather, we will be unable to offer refunds, or if your plans change and you already signed up we are unable to offer refunds. If we have to cancel the race will switch to virtual.  Which means you run on your own at your own pace on a day that works for you. You'll receive your t-shirt, finisher medal and custom race bib.

The Capital City River Run is proud to support Impression 5 Science Center, a hands-on science museum in downtown Lansing that inspires curiosity, creativity, and learning for children and families throughout Mid-Michigan. Donations can be made here. 

The event will be held rain or shine, however if there are storms the morning of the event or forecasted during the event we will monitor and communicate any delays to participants via email. In the event of lightning, the event will be delayed a half hour until from the last lighting strike until we are 30 minutes without a lightning strike. Participants will be asked to remain in their vehicles during this time.  We will evaluate on race day if the race needs to be delayed or cancelled due to weather. If we have to cancel the race will be virtual.  Which means you run on your own at your own pace on a day that works for you. You'll receive your race swag, finishers medal and custom race bib.

Yes. Participant registration insurance is provided thru FanShield.  

What does FanShield cover? A: FanShield reimburses your registration fee if you’re unable to attend due to a covered reason, including:

• Serious illness or injury (to you or an immediate family member)
• Death of an immediate family member
• Vehicle breakdown or traffic accident
• Severe weather that prevents travel to the event
• Job loss / layoff
• Active military duty
• Jury duty
• A positive COVID-19 test requiring self-isolation

Q: What does it NOT cover? A: FanShield does not cover general personal conflicts, scheduling changes, or simply changing your mind. It also does not cover event cancellation by the race organizer — only your inability to attend. The coverage is conditional: the covered reason must actually prevent you from getting to and participating in the event.
