DC Break the Silence: The Global Run – Stopping the sexual abuse of Deaf Filipino women and children

Come join 10,000 runners from all over the world as we run in solidarity with the Philippines to STOP sexual abuse to Deaf women and children.

Did you know that, according to a recent survey conducted by the Philippine Deaf Resource Centre, 65-70% of Deaf boys and girls in the Philippines have been molested. A further study revealed that one third of female respondents had been raped.

On Sunday 19 March, Washington, DC will be holding a 4 mile Fun Run to raise funds for and awareness of the Break the Silence Project, as organised by the Philippine Accessible Disability Services, Inc. (PADS).

Our run is one of many happening around the world. We will be joining thousands of runners across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia to create a global wave of awareness around this horrible crime.

Each runner is suggested to fundraise at least 25 USD to support the cause (Students are suggested to donate 15 USD). All funds will be sent to PADS and used to support the Break the Silence Project.
