About Sycamore Land Trust
Sycamore Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1990 that is dedicated to preserving the beauty, health, and diversity of southern Indiana’s natural landscape through strategic land conservation, habitat restoration, and environmental education. Across our 26-county service area, we have permanently protected over 11,800 acres on more than 150 protected properties. Our organization is nationally accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission for meeting rigorous standards of conservation excellence. We restore critical habitats like wetlands, forests, wildflower meadows, and grasslands that support native wildlife and provide a refuge for threatened species. Thirteen of our preserves are open to the public, where we maintain over 30 miles of free hiking trails, offering outdoor recreation opportunities for all ages and abilities. We also provide free environmental education programs for local schools and community groups, reaching thousands of students each year with hands-on lessons in nature. Community members can get involved through volunteer workdays, guided hikes, and citizen science projects, deepening their connection to the land and helping to ensure a healthier, more resilient environment for future generations.
A donation to Sycamore will help create a future in which southern Indiana has diverse and abundant habitats for native plants and animals, clean air and water, working lands that are productive and sustainable, and people who embrace the connection between a healthy environment and our quality of life.
