Description
The Monroe Distance Classic was established in 2018 with a 2-fold mission. The first was to encourage our community to embrace a more active lifestyle. The second was to become a NELA major racing event to kickoff the fall road racing calendar. The Monroe Distance Classic inaugural events will consist of a 5K and Half-marathon through mid-town Monroe, LA.
The Monroe Distance Classic will raise funds to support Team WillPower Foundation benefiting St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. And families never receive a bill from St. Jude — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
The funds raised from the Monroe Distance Classic 5K will support the Ronald McDonald House of Monroe, LA. The Ronald McDonald House has a passion for keeping families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need.

Awards
All finishers will receive a medal for their participation. Awards will also be given to top 3 male and female and masters and in the the following age groups: 5k- 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+. Half marathon age group awards will being at 15 and below.
Packet pick up and late registration
Packet pick up will be available Friday, October 19th from 10a-6p at Fleet Feet Monroe, 1866 Forsythe Ave, Monroe, La., 71201. Packets can also be picked up race day for both races on Saturday up until 6:45a. Online registration closes at 11:59p, Thursday, October 18th. Late registration for the 5k and half marathon will be available at packet pick up Friday and for the 5k ONLY on Saturday, October 20th at the start. NO SAME DAY REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE HALF MARATHON.
