In Maryland, the preterm birth rate among Black women is 44% higher than the rate among all other women.
In 2019, Maryland's black infant mortality rate was 9.3%. (health.maryland.gov)
What does that mean? It means that 9.3% of 1000 births left devastated parents feeling heartbroken, lost, confused, hurt, and alone. During 2017-2019 (average) in Maryland, preterm birth rates were highest for black infants (13.0%), followed by American Indian/Alaska Natives (10.3%), Hispanics (9.4%), whites (8.9%), and Asian/Pacific Islanders (8.8%) (MarchofDimes.com)
Anaya’s Project's mission is to provide support to families who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss as well as fertility challenges. We provide bereavement and fertility support boxes, angel gowns, burial funds, life certificates, Cuddle Cots to hospitals, facilitate the Grief Recovery Support Group program, and host community events that provide education, resources, and inspiration to the community and bereaved families.
What is a Cuddle Cot? A Cuddle Cot is a cooling device that provides families with the gift of more time. It eliminates the need for the hospital personnel to constantly removing the baby from parents to keep the baby cool in turn providing the family more time with their precious baby.
To continue our bereavement support and outreach, we need YOUR support. Each donation, no matter the amount will help fund our programs and services that provide strategies and tools needed to living life after losing a pregnancy, infant, or while experiencing infertility.
Will you help us support families today?
