GNST Scholarship Fund

Your donation today goes to support the Glacier Nordic Ski Team Scholarship Fund. This scholarship fund helps to offset participants who need financial assistance with their program fees. Last year we gave $6,379 in scholarship money, that went towards program fees, rentals, and race fees. Each year, we fundraise to cover these costs.

Last year, our GNST winter programs comprised of over 250 kids ages 4-18 years old. We offer a variety of options with affordable rentals to ease the cost of entry into skiing. We want as many people as possible to enjoy getting outdoors! Each donation option is the cost of one athlete in that program. Learn more at https://www.glaciernordicclub.org/ski-team/

If you would like to add "In Memory of Winslow Nichols" to your donation, you can specify your funds to The Winslow Nichols Travel and Race Scholarship. This scholarship is specifically for middle school and high school athletes who are wanting to experience the next level of skiing through competition. Most all races mandate a fee to compete, as well as expenses to get there. Our Prep Pro and Comp Team have options to travel throughout the winter around Montana, Utah and Idaho to compete against other clubs and to gain valuable life experience.

Winslow Nichols grew up through the GNST programs, and competed throughout high school. He passed away June 7th, 2022 in the mountains of Glacier National Park, but his spirit and impact on his community is vibrant, just like him. Winslow's family recognizes how valuable team trips and racing were to his development, strength and tenacity, and would like to help offset costs for other families who have aspiring racers.

Outside of programs, Glacier Nordic Club groom trails at the Big Mountain Trail Head, Whitefish Lake Golf Course (Glacier Nordic Center), Meadow Lake Golf Course (Meadow Lake Nordic Trails), Muldown Elementary, and Round Meadow. Two of those venues have funding assistance through grants, and Muldown is a free community offering to support youth health. Grooming trails are extremely expensive, and overall club operations, tools, gear, machinery and staffing are funded by your support through a trail pass, season memberships, and donations. Glacier Nordic Club also runs the Glacier Nordic Shop which is stationed seasonally at the Whitefish Lake Golf Course, and provides rentals and lessons for all.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Jennie Bender, Executive Director and Coach
