All proceeds from the race will benefit the Reeves Community Center Foundation.
The Reeves Community Center Foundation has a shared mission with Mount Airy Parks & Recreation to build a healthier community through parks, programs, and partnerships. The RCC Foundation provides financial assistance to underserved youth and disabled adults to ensure that cost is not a barrier for anyone to participate in a recreational program. The Foundation was created and exists primarily to aid those in need with scholarship assistance for programs and memberships but in recent years the RCC.
Foundation has assisted in additional initiatives:
1. Housing Authority Swim Lessons – Providing transportation and free swim lessons to children
living in the Housing Authority Sites
2. Summer Adventure Camp – Providing scholarships and transportation to middle school age
children for an adventure summer camp. These children were identified through the
mentorship program, school principals and social workers and MAPR Staff to be given an
opportunity for a summer of a lifetime!
3. Granite Mentorship Program – Mentees are matched with positive role models in 1:1 pairs,
group mentoring activities and family engagement activities. RCC Foundation provides food
assistance as the federal grant will not permit this key component to these activities.
