Your donation will make a difference in the lives of people who are blind, have low vision or DeafBlind and combined vision and hearing loss!
Funds raised from Helen’s 5K Run/Walk 2025 will support:
Two Powerful Causes, One Shared Mission
Your participation creates lasting impact for individuals who are blind, DeafBlind, or have low vision, from early childhood through adulthood.
Children’s Learning Center Long Island Expansion
We’re embarking on an ambitious expansion: opening two new Children’s Learning Center locations on Long Island – one in Suffolk County and one in Nassau County. These new centers will bring our comprehensive model of care — the same approach that has transformed countless young lives in Brooklyn — closer to home for Long Island families. Like our flagship location, they will offer specialized early intervention services, a multidisciplinary team of experts including teachers of blind and low vision children, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and our Parent Resource Center — all working together to give children the strongest possible start in life.
Advancing Communication Access for the DeafBlind Community
Funds raised will support communication and environmental access initiatives, including interpreting and SSP services at HKNC. Supported by Virtual and In-Person Participants
Independence for DeafBlind individuals depends on reliable access to communication – whether that’s ASL interpreters, tactile interpreters, assistive technologies, or other communication support. These services are essential for everything from job training and workplace accommodations to community engagement and advocacy efforts. Funds raised during Helen’s 5k Run/Walk will help ensure that communication access remains available where and when it’s needed most.
Register now and HKS will be well on the way to achieving its goal of raising $100,000!
