Our featured Charity for the race is Mental Health America of Fredericksburg. Founded in 1955 by local citizens, Mental Health America of Fredericksburg (MHAfred) is our community’s oldest nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization addressing all aspects of mental health and mental illness. As a catalyst for enhanced access to mental health treatment and services, MHAfred identifies emerging trends and unmet needs through its HELPLINE Provider Resource, builds coalitions to​​ address gaps in services, and advocates to secure funding streams for “incubator” programs created collaboratively to serve unmet needs.
