Thank you for participating in Scotland's Washed Out Bridge Endurance Challenge! We are planning on having a party with some running added in. Here are a few points to make this a successful event for everyone.

1. Use the address for the Fire Department. 47 Brook Rd, Scotland, CT 06264. Brook Rd goes through other towns, so be sure the address you use in your GPS has Scotland, Ct.

2. We have use of the field across the street from the Fire Department for parking. If you have concerns that your vehicle will not do well in the field or you require a handicap spot, let John (the parking volunteer) know before driving into the field and he'll point you to an alternate spot. There are a few spots at the library and at the community center (on the left side of the Fire Department) that are paved.

3. We will have access to the indoor bathrooms next to the community room at the Fire Department.

4. Do Not Block the garage doors at the Fire Department. They need to be able to respond to emergencies. They should not have to worry about individuals hanging out in front of their building, impeding their vehicles.

5. Bib pickup will start at 6 pm. We will either be at a table outside (if weather is great) or inside the community room (for inclement weather.) You will be able to find us once you park.

6. When we start it will still be light out. It will begin to get dark out around 8:30 pm. Although this is a dead end road, there are still a few houses and therefore might be minimal vehicle traffic. Please bring lights/reflective gear not only for safety but fun. If you continue on the course after 8pm you must have a light with you. We hope to light up the night with lots of neon.

7. Bug spray. We'll be in the country, by water. Although it wasn't too buggy last year, mosquitoes tend to be attracted to certain people. If that's you, protect yourself. While we're on the subject of bugs, don't forget to check yourself for ticks.

8. We'll have water and chips. If you want a certain snack or fuel/hydration bring it. Set up a chair or small table to have a place to rest or have easy access to your gear.

9. When you finish, you will get a finisher's tag on a necklace. You will also get a yellow washer for every loop you do up to 4. If you do at least 5 loops, you'll get an orange washer. If you crank out 10 loops you will get a red washer! If you can accomplish 16 laps, you'll get 1 of each color. We won't have any awards but you will have your necklace to wear as bragging rights.

The Challenge will commence at 7 pm. Make sure you take a neon jelly bracelet to show your first loop. You will go from the starting line and head to where the road dead ends. This is where you will go around a cone and head back to where you started. This will be 1 loop. If you want to continue doing loops (you have 2 hours) you will grab a neon jelly bracelet to keep track of your loops. If you decide you're a one and done kind of person, do not turn around and go back on the course. When you are done continue to the finisher table and let the volunteer know your bib number, name, and how many loops you did.

If you are opposed to the jelly bracelets and have an electronic device (watch, phone) that shows the distance you went, you can show that to volunteer as proof of your laps.

Thank you to EVERYONE for supporting our race! Races allow us to raise funds that go back into the town. We currently provide a free summer concert series, yoga, as well as holiday celebrations.

Once again, thank you for participating in our Endurance Challenge! Please select Contact on this website if you have any questions.
