Event: The Amazing Shana Virtual 5k
For those of you who didn't know her, Shana Marra taught special education at Lisha Kill Middle School. She was a big runner and ran in many local races including Ragnar races, marathons and half marathons, inspiring her coworkers and students alike. Her physical strength was impressive beyond belief (though you'd never know it from the understated, under-the-radar way she comported herself); so too, was her strength of character as a talented teacher and mentor, a superb, loyal friend, a dynamic family member, and proud mother of two teenage boys. Her dad Anton referred to her as "Amazing Shana" throughout her life which is how the race came to be named.
The race window - from January to March - has special meaning to us. Mrs. Marra died of lymphoma in January 2018 at the age of 44. This March 30th, she would have turned 46.
