12 Hour POW-MIA Relay
This event will run from 7 am to 7 pm. The idea is to raise awareness and honor those who were captures as Prisoners of War and the families that endured the unthinkable. Participants can sign up the day of the event to carry the POW flag for as long as they wish. The course is a 1 mile loop around the Fort Sanders West complex. The idea is to keep the flag in motion for the entire 12 hour duration without it stopping. The past 4 years the POW flag has traveled 74, 69, and 64, and 62 miles. This year, we hope to hit that 75 mile mark.
Each registered team will have their laps tracked during the entire 12 hour event. So if a team decides to come out during the event, the time is up to the team. Each lap completed by a team members will count as 1 lap. So, if a team of 5 decides to run/walk together to carry the flag, that will count as 5 laps. The team must have every member carry the flag at least once (This can be done as a group, or individually).
