Muster Grounds: September 23-24, 2017

Muster Grounds will be the first part of the App(ugh)lachian Race Series. It is centered in and around Abingdon, VA September 23-24.

Abingdon is a beautiful, historic town right in the middle of App(ugh)lachia. It is the perfect start to an epic race series.

Registration for the Muster Grounds race includes: 

- Entry into the Saturday bike race and the Sunday trail run
- Catered post-race meal at New York Times and Wall Street Journal acclaimed Harvest Table Restaurant www.harvesttablerestaurant.com (cash bar)
- After party at Wolf Hills Brewing Co.
- Bag of local swag
- Race t-shirt
- Lots of surprises!

Details of Events:

Friday September 22nd - Pre-race packet pickup and MANDATORY pre-race meeting at 7pm at Wolf Hills Brewery. If you cannot make the meeting, please contact the race director.

Saturday, September 23rd - 4-mile road bike starting around 10am. Catered lunch at Harvest Table Restaurant to follow. After party at Wolf Hills.

(NO, that is not a typo. It is a 4 mile bike ride. You will not wish it was further. However, you do not have to ride a road bike if you do not have one. You're welcome to ride whatever bike you like, but you will wish it was a road bike by the end.)

Sunday, September 24th - 10-mile trail run starting around 9am. After party and awards at Wolf Hills following the run.

Awards:

Most awards are locally made goods so you can take a little bit of App(ugh)lachia home with you. Participants must complete both events per race rules to be eligible for awards.

First Place Overall:

- Placing top overall (lowest combined time) in any race gives you one free entry into a future race (a year from your winning race date).
- Custom pair of Lavelle Denim jeans. Made in Glade Spring, VA. ($150 value)

Top Five Overall:

- Medium pizza from Bella's
- Locally roasted bag of coffee from Zazzy'z
- Antimicrobial wool shoe inserts from Dreamland Alpacas
- More prizes to come

PS: If you're an active member of the local State of Franklin Track Club enter code SFTC to receive a registration discount. Remember, this raise is a fundraiser for Appalachian Sustainable Development, so please only use this if you are an actual SFTC member.

PSS: Only those who register before September 1st are guaranteed a t-shirt. However, if you finish the race per race rules you will get an official "App(ugh)lachian" t-shirt eventually if none are available.

Friday - April 27, 2018:

6:00pm (approximately) - In the spirit of “It’s Bristol Baby!” we will have our own Friday qualifying. For those of you who don’t know what the hell we’re talking about, it’s a NASCAR reference. Since Bristol is home to the world’s fastest half mile, we will be doing our own short track qualifying to determine how much of an advantage, or disadvantage, you get in the Bristol events. (Optional)

7:30pm (approximately) - Package pickup and pre-race meeting/hangout at Kil'n Time Ceramics in Bristol, TN. (Mandatory)

Saturday - April 28, 2018:

9:30am (approximately) - Hiking – 2 miles uphill with time restraint. Post-event licking of wounds/BBQ at a nearby park.

Sunday - April 29, 2018:

9:00am (approximately) - Trail Run – A few miles (8ish) with a little bit of everything. Post-race awards/recovery/food at a local brewery.
