Root River Paddle Challenge

Linwood Park Kayak & Canoe Launch Project
The Root River winds through Caledonia for about 15 miles and is an absolutely beautiful experience for those who can enjoy it. Unfortunately it is almost impossible for elderly and people with disabilities to do that without an access point. We want to change that so everyone can enjoy this river for years to come.

Finisher's Medal

Course description:

Starting at Linwood Park, 5900 5 Mile Road – Franksville, Town of Caledonia and ending at the Horlick Dam. The course is approximately 7.5 miles and takes about 2-3 hours to complete

Directions to start:

We will be providing a shuttle service BEFORE the start of the event ONLY. We will not be transporting any watercraft or equipment.

Participants should drop off watercraft and equipment at Linwood Park AND then drop vehicles off at the finish (Horlick Dam Boat Launch)
Shuttle service from the Horlick Dam Boat Launch is provided back to the start (Linwood Park).
Shuttles depart Horlick Dam at 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Any participant renting a watercraft should go directly to Horlick Dam Boat Launch for 8:15 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. shuttle service.

This will allow you to participate at your own pace and depart at your leisure. Remember this is NOT a race.

Participants are welcome to make alternative arrangements if necessary. Please advise the event director if you make alternate arrangements
Awards info:

All finishers will receive a custom medal.

Watercraft Rentals

Canoes and kayaks will be available for rental on a first come first serve basis. Please select your registration with a watercraft rental if you would like to reserve one.

Life Preservers

All participants are required to provide their own life preserver and wear it at all times during the event.
