Description
My 34-year-old stepsister, Shannon, died on March 13, 2012, from ALS complications, and this virtual event honors her memory by raising money to support the Curt and Shonda Schilling ALS Clinic at the Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts. Its mission is to provide care and support to ALS patients and their families.
Shannon was diagnosed with ALS at the Schilling ALS Clinic only 2 months before she died. She left behind her two sons, ages 15 and 7, her mother, her father (my stepfather) and other family and friends.
The great thing about a virtual run/walk is it can be done anywhere at any time. For this event, you have from the time you register until the end of March to complete 13.1 miles. It can be done on a treadmill, outside, through the mall...anywhere. And you can do it all at once or a little bit at a time.
And there's no need to report your mileage. It's all on the honor system. In appreciation for your donation (at least $10 of the amount will go to the ALS Clinic after medal and shipping costs), you will receive a shamrock finisher's medal! All registrants will be entered into a drawing for a few prizes, like an Amazon gift card and a gas card.

Thank you,
Kristin
