As stated before, this fundraiser is held in honor of Sarah Landauer and Cyris Geary.

Sarah Michelle Landauer unexpectedly passed away on March 9th, 2011. If you never had the opportunity to meet this incredible girl, first, I am truly sorry and second, you should know this was a loss that hurt the hearts of many people; the thousands of people that Sarah loved so well. The beautiful thing is that despite the injured hearts, people are remembering the life Sarah lived and have a desire to live the same way. She strived to love those around her and that love is why people are doing something. Sarah was an all-around athlete. Staying active while connecting with others was her form of self-care.

Cyris Geary sadly passed away during his sophomore year at Eastside High School in 2018. He is remembered by everyone for his love of music, especially the guitar, spending time with his family, and his gentle and kind personality he expressed towards everyone he met. He was known for his great sense of humor and his infectious laugh that always made others smile. His story reminds us of the importance of mental health and the expression of kindness and compassion towards others.

Money fundraised through this event will go towards the JED foundation. JED protects the emotional health and well being of the nation’s teen and young adults. JED furnishes mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention programs to more than 2,000 colleges and universities, around 2.5 million students in total. Also, they recently launched a initiative that provides mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention programs for high school students. They are committed to equipping young people with the skills and knowledge they need to help themselves and their peers.
