The Flatwoods 5K is run just after sunrise on a natural, scenic limerock loop road around Lake Mize and the Austin Cary Forest. Packet pick-up and day of race registration will start at 8:00 AM. Race start time is 9:00 AM. The race is chip timed and the course is acuratley measured, with mile markers. There is a water station at halfway, and post-race refreshments.
Early registration is $5 for children 13 and under, $10 for students, and $20 for adults. Technical T-shirts are an additional $10. T-shirts are synthetic nylon with long leaf pine artwork. Register early to guarantee size (XS-XL). Day of race registration will be additional $5, and T-shirt sizes will be first come, first serve.
Pine cone trophies will be awarded to top male and female open and masters runners, and top 3 in all age groups. All runners 13 years and under will recieve an award.
From I-75 & NW 39thAve (Hwy 222) – go East approx. 9 mi to Waldo Rd (Hwy 24). Turn left (North) on Waldo Rd approx. 5 mi to the entrance of the Austin Cary Forest on your right. There will be a lighted sign at the entrance, with traffic attendants to direct you to parking.
Please arrive early. It is a 1.5 mi drive from the Forest entrance to the parking area. The race will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
The race is chip timed with a gun start. The course is pancake flat and run on limerock roads through pine forests.
