Running for a mission 5K

In support of the University of Florida College of Dentistry mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Jamaica. Each year, the University of Florida’s College of Dentistry students and faculty provide critical oral healthcare in underserved countries, whose populations otherwise would not receive necessary dental care. This summer, thirty dental students and faculty will travel to the Dominican Republic for the 31st annual service trip, thirty four will travel to Guatemala for the 13th annual service trip, and twenty four will travel to Jamaica for the 8th annual service trip. Abroad, we will provide extractions, fluoride, and restorative treatments for those in desperate need. Due to lack of transportation, limited equipment and supplies, and few local dentists, the services we provide in these countries are invaluable. Last year, trip attendees treated more than 2,400 patients of all ages with a variety of different conditions and yet there was still more work to be done. To help more individuals this year, we will be raising more money and collecting more supplies. This year, we are excited to be holding the first ever Running For A Mission 5K fundraiser on the University of Florida campus. Therefore, we are kindly asking for your support. By registering today, you can help our fundraising event be a success. In return, we can provide even more critical dental care for the underserved, while subsidizing travel costs for our students. Your registration fee will allow us to expand our services and deliver excellent dental care to these patients – the kind of care for which the college is known. The funds raised will help pay for expenses like flight costs, lodging, and supplies that will otherwise be paid out-of-pocket by students and organizers.
