Description
Join us on Saturday, February 4th 2017 in downtown Jacksonville for the MLK 5K Fitness Run/1 Mile Family Fun Walk. This race is in it's first year and is a fundraiser for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Foundation, Inc., and the Jordan Davis Foundation, Inc. There is a chip timed 5km and an untimed 1 mile fun run/walk.

Reflection and reconciliation is the centerpiece of the Annual MLK 5K Run and Family Fun Walk honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Through this event we hope to shine an additional light on diversity, unity, and reconciliation in Jacksonville. We continue the quest for racial harmony, true diversity, and peaceful coexistence.
In addition to the race there are fabulous post race activities for the whole family described in more detail below.
Race Information
Race times and dates are subject to change without notice at any time for any reason. In the event the race time or date is changed or if the race is cancelled, for any reason, there will not be any refunds under any circumstances. In the event of bad weather every effort will be made to conduct the race, however it may be moved to an alernate date, time, or cancelled within hours of the starting time. Please be sure to check the PRS Race Timing website and Facebook page for updates prior to departing to the race for any last minute changes or instructions.

The net proceeds from this activity will benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Foundation, Inc., and the Jordan Davis Foundation, Inc., both of Jacksonville, Florida. AGE GROUPS - 10 YEAR INTERVALS
Age group awards will be presented to the top three men and the top three women in the following age groups:
0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 Plus
Runners will only receive one award: overall, masters, or an age group award. Placements for awards are based on gun time, not chip time unless otherwise noted.
Packet Pickup
DAY OF RACE PACKET PICKUP
Participants not able to make packet pickup prior to the race may pickup their packets at the race during the times listed on the Event Schedule.

Race Course
The run starts and finishes at Metroplitan Park. There will be water stations on the course and at the finish line.

Chip Timing
The race will be chip timed using a shoe chip system. Chips will be distributed at the packet pickup. All runners must cross the mat at the finish line with their chip properly attached to their shoe to score in the race. Chips must be returned at the conclusion of the race at the finish line. Runners not returning chips will be charged a fee of $30.
Runner Amenities
SHIRTS
All runners registered two weeks prior to the race a guaranteed to receive a T-Shirt of their requested size. All runners registering within two weeks of the race will receive a shirt as supplies permit.
GOODIE BAGS
All runners will receive T-Shirts, goodie bags, and post-race food/drinks.
