Race To Mt Olympus 5k

Join us on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 for the Race To Mt. Olympus 5k and 1k Fun Run featuring Kevin  Sorbo, the great American actor best known for the roles of Professor Radisson in God's Not Dead, Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Captain Dylan Hunt in Andromeda, and Kull in Kull the Conqueror.  This race is in it's first year and is a fundraiser for A World Fit For Kids! (WFIT) provides healthy behaviors and youth development programming and training for young people.   This 5km race is chip timed and both the 5k and 1k runs start and finish at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

Runner Amenities


All finishers will receive a race medal upon completion of the race


There will be free beer available for responsible consumption for participants of legal drinking age.   Food trucks will be on site wtih food available for purchase.


Water stations will be on course for runners aid during the race.

Race Awards

The overall winner of the race will receive a three month membership voucher to Bailey's Health & Fitness.  In addition commemorative pint glasses will be presented to award winners of the following categories.


Overall Awards will be presented as follows:

Men - 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place
Women - 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place

MASTERS (Over 40)

Men - 1st Place
Women - 2nd Place


Age group awards will be presented to the top three men and the top three women in the following age groups:
0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 Plus

Runners will only receive one award:  overall, masters, or an age group award.  Placements for awards are based on gun time, not chip time unless otherwise noted.

Costume Contest

Special awards will be presented to the five best costumes worn during the race.

90 minutes to 15 minutes prior to the start of the race - Packet, Bib, & Chip Pickup

90 minutes to 30 minutes prior to the start of the race - Day of Race Registration (Cash or Check Only)

20 minutes to 30 minutes after the last finisher - Awards Ceremony


8:00am - 5km Start

9:00am - 1km Fun Start Time

Race Course

The run starts and finishes at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds and will tackle part of the Hart Bridge Expressway that you may not have ever run before.   There will be water stations on the course and at the finish line.

Packet Pickup


Participants may pickup their packets at the race during the times listed on the Event Schedule.

The Race to Mount Olympus looking for volunteers to help staff the race, distribute water, and hand out medals between 7:00am and 9:30am. All volunteers will receive 2 Free tickets to Collective Con for each person willing to volunteer.   Volunteers may find additional information or register to volunteer at the race by selecting the Volunteer Option on the Menu to the left.  More info on Collective Con can be found at www.collectivecon.com 

Collective Con

These races are part of the Collective Con events, now entering its second year and returning to the Jacksonville Fairgrounds April 1st-3rd 2016, featuring an impressive line up of stars, including Robin Lord Taylor, whose portrayal of the Penguin in FOX  TV’S Gotham, has become one of the most popular characters on Television.  Also appearing is the beautiful and talented Candice Patton from the CW’s The Flash. She plays Iris West, a love interest to the The Flash. Nominated for 3 Teen Choice Awards for 2015, for her role, she is a star on the rise.  

These contemporary A listers will be joined by TV veteran Kevin Sorbo the star of  “Hercules, the Legendary Journeys” (19931999), the most watched TV show in the world, airing in 176 countries.  Besides being available for photo ops, signings and panel discussions, Kevin Sorbo will also be on site for the Race to Mt. Olympus 5K and 1K fun run.  The 5k is a fundraiser for a World Fit For Kids and other programs geared towards Kevin’s mentoring model that trains inner-city teens to use school, fitness, sports and positive role models for improving themselves. Sorbo has had an impressive career as a star of TV and Film, including the lead role as “Captain Dylan Hunt” in “Gene Roddenberry’s, Andromeda”.  The first show created by Roddenberry after Star Trek was cancelled.  Andromeda debuted as the number one, hour-long show in first run syndication and remained at number one for its entire run from 2000-2005.   

This years list of Voice Actors, is equally impressive. Including Janet Varney (Legend of Korra, Entourage), Robin Atkin Downs (Metal Gear Solid, The Strain), Cristina Vee (Sailor Moon, league of Legends).  

This years Comic Book artists include M. Zachary Sherman, Seth Mann, Clay Mann and more, with credits ranging from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse Comics, Poison Ivy, Star Wars,  X-Men, Gambit, Magneto: Not a Hero, Lord Of The Rings, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Archie Comics. 
Collective Con is packed with activities and experiences for any age attendee, including Cosplayers,  Replica Props, Classic Arcade games, Console games, Costume Contests, Exhibitors Hall, and Artist Alley.

Race Information

Race times and dates are subject to change without notice at any time for any reason. In the event the race time or date is changed or if the race is cancelled, for any reason, there will not be any refunds under any circumstances. In the event of bad weather every effort will be made to conduct the race, however it may be moved to an alernate date, time, or cancelled within hours of the starting time. Please be sure to check the PRS Race Timing website and Facebook page for updates prior to departing to the race for any last minute changes or instructions.

Chip Timing (5k Race Only)

The 5k race will be chip timed using a shoe chip system.   Chips will be distributed at the packet pickup.   All runners must cross the mat at the finish line with their chip properly attached to their shoe to score in the race.  Chips must be returned at the conclusion of the race at the finish line.   Runners not returning chips will be charged a fee of $30.  

Note - The Fun Run is not timed.
