Description
The Tahoe 200 was the next 'BIG GOAL' run Phil Brown had in his sights before the March 1st 2017 tragedy that claimed his life. Phil was robbed of the opportunity to physically experience the 200-mile run around North America's largest alpine lake. However, the non-profit organization founded in Phil's memory, the PHEEL GOOD Foundation, works to help others enjoy events that Phil would have enjoyed participating in and supporting. PHEEL GOOD Foundation is excited to announce the non-profit's registration sponsorship of accomplished ultra runner, Joshua Gray. With guidance and training from his Run Natural coach, Dawn Lisenby, Joshua will be running the 2021 Tahoe 200 event that begins on September 10th in Homewood, California, and that concludes on September 14th.
Prior to an injury that compromised her training miles, Dawn was preparing to "Tahoe 200 for Phil." Dawn is a Badwater 146-mile and a Big Blue 132-mile solo finisher. As a multiple certification-holding running coach, Dawn has countless running, coaching, and race directing accomplishments to her credit which span both miles and years of dedication. After a hard look at her injury, Dawn made the decision to pass the Tahoe baton to Joshua, a skilled runner who both she and the PHEEL GOOD Foundation have faith in and admire. On September 10th, Joshua is putting his experience to a new challenge as he honors Phil's memory by tackling the Tahoe 200 Endurance Run.
"Tahoe is perhaps most meaningful to me because of who I will be there representing. I am humbled to represent Phil on behalf of the
Pheel Good Foundation. To be able to carry out a piece of his dreams is an honor beyond words. We share the same love for pushing the limits of human endurance and neither of us looked for small tests. I think running the Tahoe 200 is made even more meaningful because this is rightly Dawn’s race
spot. I feel like I am representing her and am very excited that she will be able to guide and coach me to succeed and excel at Tahoe."
YOUR participation in the 'VIRTUAL 200 for Phil' will support Joshua's efforts and allow YOU the opportunity to achieve a very special 200-mile distance. While Joshua has a mere 4 days to complete the 200+ mile trek, the 'VIRTUAL 200 for Phil' allows you a MONTH to complete the 200 miles. Log your miles in a weekend, a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or all four. The goal is 200 miles -- however you can get them. Let's rally behind Joshua and support his Tahoe 200 journey, and let's bond together and keep Phil's beautiful spirit alive as we 'Tahoe 200 for Phil'...virtually. *** Cool 200-mile shirt & medal will be mailed directly to you. Mailouts begin September 2nd.
