Description
Like you, we at the Life Time Miami Marathon & Half Marathon are feeling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we still want to support ways to stay healthy and stay connected. Running is still the answer - the way to keep us all united, while respecting essential social distancing parameters.
While you may not be able to bring your kids to work on April 23rd (or maybe it seems like you’re always bringing your kids to work), what you can do is take them for a run. Join us! Whether on a treadmill or jogging/walking around the neighborhood, the Take Your Kid To Run Day Virtual 5K is an ideal way to keep you and your family healthy both mentally and physically.
Registrants will have 8 days to complete the 5K on their own (April 23-30) and submit their results. Registered participants will be able to download a digital bib that they may choose to print out, decorate, and wear for the run (not mandatory). Because this is meant to be an event that connects our community, while upholding proper social distancing practices, we HIGHLY encourage registrants to take selfies/videos of their run to post on social media. Tag your neighbors/friends/running buddies as well as the Life Time Miami Marathon social media pages. Let’s spread some positivity!
This event is for people not just in Miami, but across the world!* Similar to the Life Time Kids Run Miami program, this event presents an opportunity for our youth to build self-esteem, set and achieve a goal, bond with their family, and also experience the added benefits associated with exercising. Registrants may opt-in to upgrade their experience to receive a Kids Run Miami Finisher medal, as well as the option to donate to the Life Time Foundation or No Kid Hungry should they be in a position to give back at this time.
Not only is this a healthy bonding experience, it’s also a great learning opportunity! We will be hosting a Facebook live educational video led by Life Time Miami Marathon co-founder Frankie Ruiz, showing your kids how to plan a route, plot the desired distance on the map, and follow through with completing that route. Plus, he’ll be dropping some tips and advice as well as some other inside information that will help you not only get to the Finish Line wherever you may be located, but to make this a memory for the books!
