Gulf Coast Runners is pleased to announce our 4th annual Picayune 10 miler!

The Picayune Strand State Forest was originally logged in the 1940's and then drained in the 50's for development.  This land was home to the infamous  "swampland in Florida" scam.  Prospective real estate investors were shown this land from the air during dry season, only to have it covered in feet of water during rainy season.  We are using these protected wetlands to host our 10 mile trail run during MOSTLY dry season (But expect to get dirty and possibly wet/soggy depending on the weather leading up to the race.) The route features gravel road to thin out the field before heading into Jeep Trails and eventually single track mountain bike/ hiking trails.  The route is a loop and would not be considered "spectator friendly", as you would watch the start and then wait for your finisher to appear out of the woods at mile 9.9. The route IS CONSIDERED runner friendly, as you will rave about the views and tranquility of the Picayune. This area is some of the last untouched wetlands, and sits on the border of the Florida Everglades.  We encourage you to take out the headphones and take in a deep breathe of Olde Florida at its finest!

Price Structure

Legacy Runners (8/11 through 9/15 only) - $40    ** Must have finished the pic 10 in both 2022, 23 and 24**    You must sign up by September 15th to receive the "Legacy price".  After 10/10, you must sign up with the masses at full price to retain your legacy status.

Now through November 15 ------ $50           November 15  through December 14 ------ $60           December 15 through January 14 ------ $65  (Last day for a guaranteed shirt size!)

JANUARY 15th UNTIL WE SELL OUT ------ $ 70

Finisher medals are a sustainable wood block with the Picayune 10 miler logo.  We can not be amongst all this beauty and hand out another metal medal that will one day find its way to our landfills.  Our race director hand makes each one.  Each one is unique, just like every person who takes on this challenge. It will to be treasured for completing this amazing endurance test in nature.

Age group awards - Age group recognition is awarded in 10 year increments.... (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, etc).  We will award a sustainable award to the TOP 3 in each 10 year age group.  These rankings will be awarded after removing and recognizing THE TOP 10 OVERALL, which will be recognized separately (no double dipping!)

Course description

A combination of gravel road, single track mountain bike trails, jeep roads, sand, and more…..

Downloadable GPS Maps for Garmin

** updated course for our new location at 52nd Ave SE**

A GARMIN COURSE that you can download to your GPS watch is available via the link above or by searching courses in Garmin.  The coordinates will keep you on track, and this is a great feature many people have but never use on their watch.  Regardless, the course will be well marked with ORANGE blazes and plenty of signage but it will require a "heads up" runner!
