WILLIAM F BOYNTON 5K RUN WALK

This event honors William F. Boynton who grew up in Ocala Florida.He attended Florida A&M University where he was an All American Center on the football team. Upon graduating from college he migrated to Pompano Beach Florida where he took a job as a teacher at Blanche Ely High School. He coached football for many years. Later he would coach Track and Field as well as the Cross Country Teams. He was the schools first Cross Country Coach. In his first year with a full compliment of runners he won the 1968 Class “A” Cross Country High School Championship. His team finished 2 points shy of repeating in 1969 finishing in 2nd place.

The event is a 5K that is being staged at the E.Pat Larkin Community Center 520 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Pompano Beach, Fl 33060 and is slated for February 8, 2020.
