May 20, 2020, COVID-19 UPDATE. The 2020 St. Marks Duathlon has been tentatively rescheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2020. The new race date is, of course, contingent upon being able to adhere to state guidelines regarding COVID-19, as well as, revised USAT race protocols. We have received a couple of inquiries about re-opening registration. The race committee will continue to monitor the state's re-opening and if circumstances allow, registration would be re-opened for new racers. Stay safe and hope to see you all in October!
The St. Marks Duathlon will be held in the quaint waterfront town of St. Marks, Florida and the bike portion will carry participants out into rural portions of Wakulla County crossing over the St. Marks River and passing by the entrance to the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. Transition is located within walking distance of the San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park and the local shops and restaurants of downtown St. Marks. The race, which was held from 2012 – 2014, has been resurrected and held since 2017 by the Gulf Winds Triathletes. 2020 will mark four consecutive years. We hope this is the best yet!
A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Ron Strong Foundation. More can be learned on this wonderful group at https://www.ronstrong.org
Be sure to bring your family and friends to cheer on competitors and get a taste of the Real Florida.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, 3/22. If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. And you can visit our club website for more info at www.gulfwindstri.com

Fat Tire Division:
There is no Fat Tire category in USAT racing, however, the St. Marks Duathlon has elected to have such a division in an effort to allow individuals who don’t own a road or tri type bike the ability to compete with other athletes racing on similar equipment. The decision as to what is considered a “Fat Tire” bike is up to the race director. Our race committee has reviewed the issue as to what will constitute a Fat Tire bike for the race and will apply the following criteria:
· Tires – Knobby or heavily grooved tires with a width of 1.5 inches or greater. Absolutely no slick surfaced tire.
· Handlebars – No drop handlebars (Clip-on aero bars are allowed). Handlebars and stem must be fashioned to prevent danger and all handlebar ends must be plugged.
· Brakes – Consistent with USAT rules, there must be one working brake on each of the two wheels.
All other USAT rules will apply. The Race Director will make the final determination. If you have any questions, please email the Race Director at email@example.com
RACE REGISTRATION / PRE RACE PACKET PICKUP:
The first price increase occurs at 12:00 am on February 1st. Online registration ends at 12 a.m. on Thursday, March 19. In-person registration can still occur at packet pickup on Saturday, 3/21 between 2 PM – 5 PM at Bird Legs Bicycles located at 12784 Capital Cir NE, Tallahassee, FL 32308. CASH ONLY - NO CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED! Race day packet pickup is available at transition, too. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!
• At the finish line there will be refreshments and snacks. Race awards will be held later in the day at 2:30 pm at Proof Brewing in Tallahassee.
As a USAT sanctioned event the St. Marks Duathlon has a NO REFUND policy. Injuries or special circumstances MAY be addressed on a very limited case-by-case basis with a licensed physician's documentation, but there are NO REFUNDS. Registration changes (to division/category) will be addressed on a very limited case-by-case basis until March 19. There is a $15 fee for ANY changes to your registration.
Right to Cancel or Reschedule
The St. Marks Duathlon reserves the right in the event of inclement weather, emergency, or natural disaster to cancel the race or move to a later time that day. In the event of CANCELLATION, there will be NO REFUND OF ENTRY FEES..
