Event Description
Fund Instructors. Grow Nordic Walking.
The NORDIC WALKING ASSOCIATION OF NORTH AMERICA (NWANA) Instructor Growth Fund helps build the people-powered foundation for Nordic Walking in North America.
Nordic Walking is a sport, a fitness method, a community activity, and a powerful tool for health, balance, mobility, active aging, fall prevention, and rehabilitation support. To grow it the right way, communities need trained instructors, local leaders, clubs, teams, and organizations that can teach safe technique and bring people together.
This fund turns donations, fundraising, team fundraising, sponsorship, and eligible employer matching gifts into NWANA Academy Beginner Instructor Course Credits.
Every $150 raised can create one course credit. Fundraisers can use earned credits to take the instructor course themselves, train a leader for their team, support a local club, help a workplace wellness group, or donate a credit to someone from the Instructor Candidate Waitlist.
Teams can raise funds to train their own leaders. Companies can support corporate Nordic Walking clubs. Sponsors can help create instructors for schools, universities, senior centers, rehabilitation programs, hospitals, walking groups, and community organizations.
Your employer may double your impact. Many companies match charitable gifts made by their employees. If your employer offers a matching gift program, your donation may help create additional NWANA Academy course credits and train more Nordic Walking instructors.
Your donation helps create more instructors, more local groups, more opportunities to move, and a stronger foundation for the future of competitive Nordic Walking in North America.
Course credits are earned and assigned under the NWANA Fundraising Course Credit Policy, available in the website menu.

Yes. If a race winner receives a course prize and does not need it, they may donate it back to the NWANA Instructor Growth Fund. That prize can become one course credit for a future approved candidate.
Interested candidates can join the Instructor Candidate Waitlist using the form linked on this page. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee a course credit.
NWANA reviews available course credits and waitlist candidates. Credits may be assigned based on availability, program needs, candidate readiness, location, and potential community impact.
No. A course credit provides access to the course. The participant must still complete all course requirements. Any certificate or instructor recognition depends on successful completion of the required course activities.
In some cases, yes. If you want to support a specific candidate, please contact NWANA before donating so we can confirm whether the course credit can be assigned as requested.
NWANA is a U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your tax advisor.
NWANA may update this page when new course credits are available or awarded. Candidates on the waitlist may also be contacted directly if a course credit becomes available for them.
