Remember all the hugs and handshakes you’ve had on Labor Day mornings since 2015 at the Bluebird Run for Brookie B? Let’s do it again. If you’ve just found out about us, you don’t want to miss this.
Our 5K trail course is one of the most beautiful and challenging in Tallahassee. Wide multi-use trails make a loop through the greenway, starting and ending at the trailhead. Past participants have said, “You’ll never forget your first Bluebird.”
Our 1 Mile Fun Run course is unique with an out-and-back canopy trail that crosses the Lafayette Heritage Canopy Bridge. A treat for runners and walkers alike, there is a water station at the turnaround on the other side of the bridge.
A huge tent with party lights will welcome you to the greenway as registration begins at 7:00 am. There will be free coffee, sports drinks, bottled water, watermelon, bananas and an assortment of treats including sno-cones. The LOSS Team of the Big Bend will set up a special area called Memory Lane in honor of the loved ones we have lost to suicide. Our Mental Health Fair will give you the opportunity to receive information from many of our local mental health care providers. Bluebird is both a fun athletic event and an outstanding community event for suicide awareness and prevention.
We expect to have a lot of walkers in this event, so we are offering entry fees both with and without timing. If you want to record an official time you will receive a race bib. If you do not want to record an official time you will not receive a race bib.
Please be sure to visit our website at www.BluebirdRun.com to discover more about this unique event and its purpose.
Who says you can’t have fun while spreading the word about suicide awareness and prevention? Check this out. Your registration in any of our events automatically enters you into our two event day drawings for $100 gift cards. Not bad, huh? But wait, there's more.
We are also giving away an Apple Watch Series 8* in our Grand Prize Drawing. Wait, what? Yes, you might win the latest watch from Apple! Boom.
How?
That's it! You will automatically be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.
All drawings will be held before the awards ceremony on Labor Day, and you must be present to win. Just more fun from Bluebird.

It takes a lot of generous volunteers to put on the Bluebird. There is much to be done in the days leading up to Bluebird Day and much to be done Labor Day morning before the races begin.
We truly appreciate you and all who participate as runners and walkers. But if you’re ready to take an extra step in your support of better mental health, suicide awareness and prevention, we have a service opportunity for you.
We need a few more people to help with preparations on Saturday and Sunday of that weekend. We could use more help Labor Day morning before the races with set-up and parking. And if you have energy left after the races, we can always use help packing up.
It takes just a couple of minutes to register as a volunteer at EmailMe Form - Volunteer Form for Bluebird Run for Brookie B. You even get a free Bluebird Volunteer T-shirt. After you register, we will contact you personally to be sure you have a volunteer assignment that suits you and to provide further instructions. Thank you!!
Did you know that Leon County Parks has designated and marked a permanent Bluebird Trail At JR Alford Greenway based on our annual 5K run/walk? We are literally on the map. They made a small adjustment at the start to accommodate their regular mowing patterns and added a small jog a little past our one-mile mark. So, the official county Bluebird Trail is either 3.3 miles or 3.5 miles, depending on which sign you believe. Although it will not be a measured 5K, it is marked and available during all daylight hours. So get out there and enjoy!
