Virtual 5K Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Virtual 5K and how does it work?
A virtual 5K is a race that can be completed from anywhere. Run, walk, jog or treadmill to complete the distance on your own time (within the race period) and at your own pace. Track your run and submit your results to receive your finisher medal!
What is the distance of a 5K?
3.1 miles
Can I walk the race?
Yes! You can walk, jog, or run your own pace. What's important is that you get out, get moving, and have fun!
Where will the race be held?
Anywhere that works for you! Our biggest priority is your health and safety so we recommend a running on a smooth surface. Please keep a safe distance away from traffic of all kinds and follow social distancing guidelines.
Is there a race packet that I need to pick up?
No. One of the benefits of a virtual race is that there is no need to pick up a race packet. Any additional details or materials will be emailed to you after registration.
How do I track my timing and completion?
There are many free apps that you can use to track your "race". Check out your phone’s app store to find an option that works for you. Still not sure? Here are some articles you may find helpful:
- Runner's World "The Best Running Apps to Take on Your Workout"
- Tom's Guide to the "Best running apps for 2020"
Do I need to complete the entire race in one try?
No. While this distance is typically accomplished in one attempt we understand that not everyone is able to complete the 5K distance in one outing. The point is to get up, get moving, and have fun!
How do I post my results?
Results are accepted on the honor system. Your results can be submitted through the results tab on this page, text, or email. For more information, view RunSignup's guide on how to submit virtual results.
Will there be prizes for placing in the race?
No. This race is not intended as a competition. All registered participants (within the United States) who have completed the 5K and submitted their results will receive a finisher medal. While race times will be tracked, we will not be providing placing prizes.
How do I receive my medal?
There are two options for receiving medals, pickup in person, or shipped to your address. You will be prompted to make a selection upon registration. If you elect to have a medal shipped (domestic shipping only), you will be asked for your shipping address and no further action is needed. Medals will be shipped after the end of the race period. If you elect to pick up your medal in person, you will be able to do so at Fit2Run at the Mall at Wellington Green. Dates for pickup availability to be announced.
Can I participate even if I do not live in Wellington?
Yes. This race is open to all participants.
I see that the race goes on for multiple days. Do I have to complete each day?
We only ask that you complete the 5K distance once. Multiple days allows you to choose a time that works best for your schedule!
