Description

This is a virtual event that can take place anywhere in America even in the comfort of your own home.  A virtual walk is a real walk, but is on your terms.  You get to choose your own course any where, what time you start, and who walks next to you!  Each race participant who makes a commitment to walk or run and pledge to donate $3 a mile.  Registrants opt to walk or run a 3K (1.82 miles), 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles).  The minimum donation starts at $6, rounding 1.82 miles in a 3K to 2 miles.  For more generous givers can give in 3 categories:  SILVER donations of $50, GOLD donations of $75 and PLATNUM donations of $100.  To show our appreciation for going the extra mile.  All who fulfills their commitment and donates  $75 or more will receive a free t-shirt.  Please include your size during registration.  Participants have one month to complete the walkathon beginning April 30th at 9:00AM and ending on Tuesday, May 31st at 11:59PM.   Upon completion, please upload your photo on website, text to (404) 274-3051 or send to info@renaissancecoc.com.

Please signup now.  Registration is FREE for this event.  Open registration began, Friday, April 1st at 12:00AM and close Wednesday, May 31st at 11:59PM.  Participants have one month to complete their walk virtually anywhere in America.  Please gather with us in person at the rear entrance at Renaissance Church of Christ 3675 Butner Road Atlanta, GA 30349 for the kickoff on Saturday, April 30th at 9:00 AM.

You have the option to walk around the perimeter of the parking lot around the outskirts of Renaissance Church of Christ campus located at  3675 Butner Road Atlanta, GA 30052 every Saturday morning 9:00AM - 11:00AM during the month of May.  Seven laps around the perimeter of the building equal approximately 3.1 miles which is equivalent to a 5K (3.1 miles) and 14 laps is equivalent to a 10K (6.2 miles).  There will be yard signs In place to mark the perimeter.  Although you will be outside, please continue to social distance and wear mask when around others.  Participants will have access to the bathrooms from the rear entrance.

Our goal is to promote Mental Health Awareness working to break the stigma of mental illness.  The money collected will be used to help those in need experiencing life crisis.  

ABOUT THE HOSTS:  The WE Care and Mental Health Ministries of Renaissance Church of Christ located in SW Fulton at 3675 Butner Road  Atlanta, GA 30349. 

WE Care is is a support group, an outreach ministry whose purpose is to provide encouragement and hope to sisters and brothers of our congregation and individuals in our community whose lives have been profoundly impacted by cancer, chronic illness, and also for caregivers through spiritual nourishment and an unyielding commitment to advocacy and increased awareness.  We help individuals recognize their resources for inner strength and peace through the word of God, education, and prayer.  

Mental Health Ministry supports mental wellness by aligning theories and interventions with the Word of God.  The mission is to raise awareness, dispel myths and eliminate stigma to create an environment of mental wellness within the congregation and community.  This ministry offers a variety of support groups, provides psycho educational training, Mental Health First Aid training and assists with referrals to mental health resources.
